Sounds like a faulty reciever unit if it’s both keys.

A few possible clues on this thread - http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic3946.html

After reading the thread Alistair linked to, I tried holding the keys close to where the amplifier is mounted and hey presto both keys work fine , 6ft away by the drivers door (lhd) neither work.

So does this point to the amp or battery low in both keys, I guess that as both keys stopped working properly at the same time it must be the amp, but replacing in hope is not my style, no problem if confirmed, but dislike just changing part until a fault is fixed.

Any further thoughts?

TIA David

If it's working when you hold the key nearer the receiver then it might just be the batteries in the keys, try changing them & see if things improve. Some of the keys seemed sensitive to lower quality batteries so get the best you can. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I think I have convinced myself it is the amp as both keys stopped at exactly the same time, so have ordered one, will advise the forum on results in a couple of weeks when it has arrived and been fitted.

Thanks all for the help

07MY have self charging keys so can't change the batteries like on a later model... I would agree the amp is probably the cause Thumbs Up

I would suggest you try a battery first. Many systems are programmed when the batteries are low to lock but not unlock. It’s a failsafe type situation, you don’t leave your car unlocked but you do know there’s an issue when you unlock it because it won’t unlock from a distance. Batteries are cheaper than an amplifier anyway, give it a go. BMW i3 Electric Car
