flashing shift (D) indicator, then knocks out of gear

flashing shift (D) indicator, then knocks out of gear *** anyone have the same problem??? ****
*** anyone have the same problem??? **** out of nowhere the D/drive light started flashing, then knocks it out of gear, Took it out of gear to neutral, the nuetral light comes on but the D light is still flashing. Turned the engine off, started it back up and everything is back to normal. Normal for a month, then it happened again. Turned off the engine off, restarted and everything is back to normal. The car shifts / drives like normal all the time. Any idea what is could be, thanks

Possibly a sticking selector mechanism.

Try getting under it with a can of spray grease👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi, no immobiliser fitted, forgot to mention, the 1st time it happened, I restarted the car and the red triangle came on, restricted preformance, turned the car off for 10 minutes and and restarted worked fine, also called out the AA, who could not find a fault code.

I had this exact same issue today, did you ever find out what it was?

(I realise this is an old thread but worth a try..)

Car was running strange again today (lumpy I suppose is the best way to put it..) so into the garage I use it went.

Just to help anyone that sees this..

Fault code has thrown up the EGR so looking at having this replaced then hoping that’s it!
