Fuel operated heater but no park heater

Evening all,

Seeing these heater threads has got me wondering does mine have the function? The topix build sheet says it has a fuel operated heater but less park heat. Does this mean I can buy one of the remotes and get it pre-warmed before my morning drive?

I would suggest not. It will use the FBH to help the engine warm up whilst driving but you dont have the facility to run the FBH without the engine running to heat the car up.. BMW i3 Electric Car

This is the one thing I miss from my Discoveries, unfortunately if the remote part of the system wasn't specced when it was new it would appear you can't add it at a later date Big Cry One thing you can do if you have an IID tool is to enable timed climate which allows you to set the car to use the FBH to warm up before you go out in the morning, the downside to this is you have either got to decide to set the timer the night before or if you go out at the same time every morning you can use the 7 day timer. One caveat, when you enable timed climate with the IID Tool is does create a system error but as far as I can see this doesn't affect anything. Cheers Ian

Ignore the last post as if you haven't got the hardware a remote isn't going to work Confused Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

I don't know about Land Rover but VW when they don't fit parking heater they omit the water pump too so even though the FBH is there to aid warm up you still cant run it whilst the engine isn't running hence my guess above. Do Land Rover fit the water pump under these circumstances? BMW i3 Electric Car

As far as I know if it is not specced when new you don't get the water pump but you can set the FBH to run for 20 minutes before you are due to go out via the timed climate and it will heat the cabin up but it wont heat the engine. My car can be totally covered in frost/ice in the morning but after the fbh has run for 20 minutes (without the engine running) the windows will be defrosted and the cabin will be warm. Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

How does it heat the cabin without water flowing through the heater matrix? BMW i3 Electric Car

I really don't know that's above my knowledge but it does warm the car up on frosty mornings. Cheers Ian

Great work, folks. I really appreciate reading the forum and finding my way through to getting the job done. Now happy with the option of stepping into a warm car in the morning, especially when it's freezing like now. Done with it on my 2013 Vogue with the IIDTool BT. Razz Vogue L405 Black 3.0TD
