Would you pay sticker price from main dealer???

Called Hardwoods today for an SVA on LR approved site.

Asking 100k and I asked for a price without a trade in and cash purchase and they have declined to reduce the car any due to low numbers and many enquiries according to them

Would you walk away or pay up?

I've just told them to forget it......

On a positive note my car got no advisories on it's MOT today and it kindly told me it needed a service on the way home....lol all smug in my new plug!

See what they will do if you take finance .... that earns them some extra shekels so they may move off the list price.

You can always cancel the finance afterwards .. Whistle

It really tells a tale of how the world works when you get a better deal for buying something when you don’t have the money up front to buy it!

I use my own broker and always have done for 20 years so would'nt do that.

tbh if they don't like my money then good luck finding a buyer.

Maybe other brands will be happy to have my custom. all smug in my new plug!

I would walk away. You don't need that attitude when spending your hard earned.

I wouldn’t take the response from the dealer personally.

In any negotiation on price, you’ve always got to be able to walk away from the deal and that applies to both parties. If they want to hold out for full price, that’s their commercial decision.

If the price isn’t right as far as your concerned, just move on to the next one. The only pitfall is, when some people get hung up on getting the very best deal / biggest discount it’s easy to lose track of what you set out to buy, winding up with something that’s heavily discounted, but possibly for good reason.

A sharp about turn and walk away!

Car dealerships have had it too good for too long but now the tide is turning. You only have to look at the month on month decrease in new and used UK car sales to see where it is heading.

If it’s a desirable spec and in the right colour then the dealer probably knows it will sell for the full asking price. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Why the obsession with a discount ?

If it's the right car a the right price then buy it - if not, then find another that is. If you can't find another, then the price was probably right. If they can't shift it then the price was probably wrong and they will likely lower it or take offers.

If you're confident it's over priced, then make them a clear offer & wait for the phone to ring in a months time.....

Not such high value, but my last three new cars (a merc and two BMW’s) the dealer has refused to budge on the price with some reason like “it’s a new model” or “these engines are in constraint”. I’ve given them a price I’m willing to pay and left my number, they have called back every time - although admittedly BMW held out for three weeks on one of them.

I find end of quarter is the best time, assuming the dealer needs to make up some numbers usually set by the manufacturer, If they have already hit their targets your probably screwed but otherwise you can help them meet targets and get paid their bonus based on volume etc Thumbs Up

It's the 27th Dec, and for the above reason mentioned surely is a time to haggle for a deal, everyone loves a deal right???

Or is that just me? You happy to pay more for something that could be less?
