Code abs module, Td6 2002.

Hi,

I have been doing a lot of searching but couldn't find any answers, so hopefully somebody can help me.
My abs module was giving all sorts of fault codes, so I have replaced it with a used one from a 2003 l322 V8. My car is a 2002 Td6. I have used allcomms to delete all fault codes and calibrate steering angle sensor. The only fault code left is abs module not coded, so obviously I need to code it to my car. Abs, brake and dsc lights are on. I have tried with some BMW software ( progman, NCS expert) but progman says it won't handle L30 series RR ( I tried tricking it telling it the car was E53). NCS expert can't regonize VIN so I'm not able to access the module. I have also tried disconnecting the battery, just in case that would help.
Anybody who has successfully coded theirs and know what software works? Any way to trick BMW software to code RR?

Thanks! 2002 Range Rover Td6

Hi,

I have. I fitted one about two years ago.

I used P.A.Soft 1.4 to code the secondhand module to my car, basically changing the stored VIN in the module to my VIN. The most important thing to do, as you have already done, is to calibrate the steering angle sensor afterwards as it stores the information about where the wheels are pointing so that the ABS module can enable HDC.

I do have PA soft, but it won't connect to IKE or EWS so i'm only able to access engine and gearbox. I'll have to try and sort that out then. Think i've seen something regarding that somewhere, so i'll do a search. Thanks! Very Happy 2002 Range Rover Td6

It could be the dongle. I’ve heard that some Chinese examples have to have some of their wires repositioned and a little bit of soldering carried out Thumbs Up

Update: I now see that i need to read the file first, edit it, then write it. Problem is, there is no coding data to be read from unit. I'll put the old module in, read the file to my pc, put new back in and hopefully it will accept file from old unit. I'll give that a try tomorrow. Fingers crossed... 2002 Range Rover Td6

Hi,

Sorry just seen your posts. It’s been two years since I did mine but what you’re suggesting rings a bell with me.

Good luck. ______________________________

I put the old module in, and now I can't connect to any module at all Shocked
Tried with INPA and allcomms.. no connection at all. Tried scanning several modules. Allcomms says K-bus offline. With the old module I get trans.failsafe prog as well. Maybe it's got something to do with that? It comes and goes with the old module, so I'll try to connect next time trans.fail safe is gone. With the new module all is working well with dagnostics, exept no coding data for abs module..

Of to work for a few days, but will look further into it when I'm back 2002 Range Rover Td6

Update:
My old module is totally bricked so have not been able to retrieve anything from it.. Been trying to code the new module with Tool32 but i haven't succeeded. When reading the fault codes with Tool32 it gives one fault code, which is coding error.
Does anyone have the coding file for the abs module extracted using bmw scanner? Would like to try to upload it to my car. 2002 Range Rover Td6

An option could be ncs expert to code the individual module but you would need the specific spdaten for the l322 but I am not sure they are available. Some really good tutorials on line. Before you do any coding make a copy of all your modules this way if something goes wrong you have a back up.

If I am not mistaken you can assigne the used abs module to your car with some function on ncs expert but can’t remeber how. Did it on a bmw e90 4 years ago.

I have ncs expert, but i'm not able to communicate with the car since it doesn't recognize the L322. I have an E39 as well, and i have no problem connecting to that car, so the software is working. Haven't found any way to comm. with the L3222.

BMW scanner however is able to connect to my car. Tried it on the central body electrics module and it is able to get the coding file ++ and it manages to identify the car correctly, so i think bmw scanner is the way forward. I believe the module should be up and running if i can get a hold on a config file for l322 Td6 which bmw scanner can handle. 2002 Range Rover Td6

I have finally managed to code the module with Tool32. It has a .prg file specific for the Range Rover which is L30 dsc57.
I read the coding data from another L322 Td6, using coden_lesen job. Then connected to my car, choose coden_schreiben and in the argument box I wrote: 07, E0 and hit F5 key. Thats it. All fault codes disappeared, no lights and systems up and running. Well, except for HDC missing Shocked . Nothing happens when I push the button. It used to work, so it must be coding that is missing. Not a big issue, but might look into it later.
From what I can figure out, you don't need to write the VIN number to the module. I e-mailed RSW and he said coding the steering angle sensor should be all that is required. I think there was something strange with my replacement module since it wasn't coded. Anyways, it's working fine now.

EDIT: HDC does work fine. It was just the plug to the switch that wasn't connected.. Laughing 2002 Range Rover Td6
