Yes, two presses then turn the deadlocks/alarm sensors off... ie leaving animals/kids in the car

Just an aside to this thread,

You have to remember to take the pouch with you when leaving the house to go elsewhere as the sneaky can follow you and pick up the signal if you don’t put the keys in the pouch if out and about.

Ive gone a similar way as Cam-Tech-Craig and put a further device on the car where the even if they clone the signal still wont be able to start the car.

Also, as some have said on here make sure your spare keys are in a pouch as well.


Obviously if they really want your car there’s nothing wrong with them picking it up and having it away on a low loader but making it as difficult as you can is the best bet.

I use one of these boxes for my merc and rr keys, and they definitely block the signal, can't open the door or get any response from the car the key once it is sealed in the box. Plus the box is really well made and felt lined inside to keep the key in good nick!

I've got a couple of the larger pouches, which are big enough to get a key with keyring and remote climate fob. I've had them for a couple of years and last tested them a week ago and they're both working fine. I've got the smaller pouches for my wife's Golf R and had to replace them after just under 2 years, but they are more compact.

can i ask those with faraday pouches/boxes, how do you get into/out of your FF....

do you approach ,take the key out of its pouch ,enter then drive...you stop get out walk away, FF locks, and place key fob into pouch???

i'm curious to ask because if its this process surely you might as well switch off the 'keyless entry' and use the key fob as normal.. ... - .- -.

My thoughts exactly Stan...

I take your point on that Stan, and yes basically take the key out when in use, I only keep it in the bag when not in use. I'm still wary though the key transmits a signal even if keyless entry is switched off, therefor is there some fancy kit out there that will unlock your doors if it can sniff the key signal. I could well be paronoid about the whole thing but it does make me feel a little safer.
On another note, my brother in law has just bought a 64 plate RR sport Autobiography, he also uses a faraday bag. On Saturday evening someone melted his patio doors with a bow torch to get in the house, luckily his house alarm went off and they scarpered. We assume they were after his keys and the Police agree.
It's hard to know what to do for the best to be honest as theres so many crooks around who are smart these days, fortunately some are not!

Where I live I have a very private Camera’s drive... you then need to drive around 3 sides of my house open a locked full size gate, then drive down the back lane to my garage (100m or so) then break into my alarmed workshop/garage and somehow get The electric roller shutter doors up! All this before attempting to take my car!

If I lived somewhere the car needed to live in view outside I think I might just own a golf!!! Unfortunately i grew up in a part of Bristol where anything and everything was stolen by from the areas you wouldn't want to drive through after dark! Ive never forgotten those times and now live in an area most of my neibours don't even lock their doors at night! Yes im the paranoid one in the street with tonnes of security, but it makes me/my family feel safer and hopefully the tea leafs will go and pinch one of the umpteen RR's in the village!

@Dave, the normal key fob will use an encrypted rotating frequency and will change the next time you use it...no signals are emitted until you press a button.... ... - .- -.

I mainly use the bag for storing the keys when they're inside the house. I sometimes take the bag with me, but only if I'm going to park in a city centre. If I lived on or near a main road I would probably behave differently. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Couldn't imagine living in an area where you would play russian roulette every morning when you opened the curtains to see if your or your neibours cars have been nicked!

Thanks Stan&Craig for the answers, unfortunately if you live in the towns and cities its not far for these holes to drive so they can steel your pride and joy, its one of many deterrents I use including a telescopic driveway security post, (the most effective thing I have I think), I actually live in a nice area, but only a 15 min drive down our newly opened by-pass from some not so nice areas. Would love to be able to keep it in the garage, but that means building work to get it in and close the door
