Allegedly, if the key is not totally enclosed & therefore some of the key signal can "escape" they're no use. Paul,

That is my understanding too. Wrapping in aluminium foil seems to work and you can test it by approaching your car with the wrapped key and seeing if it will open. By contrast I tried it with a quite tight sealing metal tin and the car opened. So worth testing pouches too. I've read about them not working, or maybe being inconsistent, not just in that article. Only Range Rovers since 1988

The reception or transmission of radio waves, a form of electromagnetic radiation, to or from an antenna within a Faraday cage is heavily attenuated or blocked by the cage; however, a Faraday cage has varied attenuation depending on wave form, frequency or distance from receiver/transmitter, and receiver/transmitter power. Near-field high-powered frequency transmissions like HF RFID are more likely to penetrate. Solid cages generally attenuate fields over a broader range of frequencies than mesh cages.

So, try wrapping it in lead -- or dropping it in an old lead lined tea caddy Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Interesting subject.

I was given one by Disklabs to test and they really do work.

I was going to set up a group buy.

Would that be of interest? 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

As mentioned in another post, it doesn't really matter with Range Rovers as they usually break down within 10 minutes!!

I can actually rest the key (in the faraday pouch) on the door handle and still the door will not unlock when I try it - can't get closer proximity than that! 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ
