Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

My TD6 Gearbox was reconditioned during the previous ownership including the torque converter and oil cooler. Recently the usage tripped 50000 km since the rebuild so I did a fluid service. The Gearbox has been perfect however I was surprised at the state of the fluid, not burnt but brown and opaque, not red and clear. I was happy to find no metal particles just a thin slime on the magnets. Any easy Diy with new oil and filter, I drained about 6 1/2 to 7 liters undoing the cooler lines to drain the cooler as well. I can see how easily the filter would become clogged after prolonged milage. I would urge anyone with a TD6 to service their gearbox at 30k mile or 50k km intervals. For anyone in Oz, The filter kit with gasket is part number is RTK130. This is a Ryco brand part number, not listed for a Range Rover but 100% correct, unlike the Holden ones for the same gearbox. Mine was A$37 shipped from an eBay seller 2007 TDV8 VSE

If you have cattle gridding/shudder try driving it in sport mode and see if it goes away that will help you pin point problems. It is often the gearbox trying to cool its self in auto if it goes away in sport then a flush with new oil n filter often cures it.

Hi I did the same I recently had the gearbox fluid and filter changed and the oil was dark brown taking into account that the gearbox and torque convertor were reconditioned only 35000 miles ago! This just shows that this needs to be done every 50000 miles maximum to prolong the life of these crap gearboxes and torque convertors! I thought that I had a faulty fuel injector on Cylinder 1 so I replaced this had no shuddering for a few days but now its back! It actually seems as if there is no shudder when the car is cold but when warmed up on a long run the shudder is there in full force at 55MPH at slight acceleration! Any more ideas guys as this is really doing my head in and I'm considering selling the car now! Also at slight throttle in 1st gear after a long run feels lumpy and rough but when I give it more throttle its fine. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

I agree with the fluid change but must add, if the lock-up clutch is the cause of the judder, using Sport mode can get around the judder. If that's the case A fluid and filter change will hopefully sort out the judder. I can't see why its anything to do with cooling of the fluid, its the clutch in the torque converter not gripping due to being worn out or the fluid being too contaminated. Change the fluid or torque converter and fluid is the hopeful cure. I know which I would try 1st. 2007 TDV8 VSE

I think mine is sorted - biding rear calliper, swapped out for a new one yesterday (at the supplying dealer's expense!). So far so good although I've only had it up to vibration speed briefly, but I'm confident it will have sorted it, the calliper was very obviously binding. 5.0 S/C Autobiography

I can elaborate on that same issue. I had the cattle grid shudder under load switching between 3rd and 4th gear. I also had a knock when driving from stationary to around 30km/h.
Sent the car in, and the gearbox was removed. Found that the fourth clutch had packed up and my torque convertor was tired as well. New clutch and torque convertor was fitted by ZF, and when my mechanic test drove the vehicle he was not happy with the shifting between 3rd and 4th, he sent the car back to the agents to have a look at the valve body. Two valve bodies later the shifting was smooth.
The knock I had was a transfer case solenoid. A service and oil change sorted it and now the Rangy drives well again. Range Rover TDV8 Vogue SE MY2010

Hi thanks for reply and glad you got it sorted. My issue doesn't seem to be under load and is only apparent at 55MPH so when the 5th gear is engaged. I only have the issue the shudder if I take foot off gas and re apply at 50MPH and slightly accelerate to 55MPH I get the shudder. If I select Sport mode and do the same I get no shudder! Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

I ran test with my IID tool today and at a steady drive of 40 MPH my fuel comp readings were from CYL 1 to 5 reading 654 and CYL 6 reading 8 to 10 fluctuating. Also when I stopped I put car in park and maintained revs at 2000RPM I had a noticeable shudder and the read on Cylinder 6 was again 8 to 10 fluctuating.Any ideas guys I also get this annoying shuddering effect as if car wants to stall at slight acceleration.

Thanks for that Wayne its a strange one as at idle I get readings of 654mm3 at CYL 2 ,3 , 4 and 5 if anything over 4mm3 is bad then surely 654mm3 isn't good! Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

Hi guys quick update this issue turned out to be a faulty injector CYL 5 really strange as the leak off test gave nothing away and my fuel consumption readings were all fine on tick over its was only when I decided to take a reading when reversing that I noticed CYL 5 gave a reading of 10mm3, The other strange factor was the cattle grid shudder only present at 55MPH and no other speed which I was advised was classic Torque Convertor symptoms. Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 SVO Stying Pack

i think above 55MPH the TC LUC is locked so it may be that at this speed you feel 100% of the engine vibrations from misfire/poor injection etc. at speeds below this you may well have the same issues ongoing but the TC LUC isnt always 100% so there is some damping in there.

my issues were the same at 55mph, the vibration was very noticeable at light throttle. if you booted it it wasnt there and below 55mph you couldnt really feel anything.
