Am I correct in remembering that if you use 2stroke it should be mineral and not synthetic? John

I use Dipetane regularly now after a sticky fuel pressure regulator in the high pressure fuel pump was causing havoc. I could run it as long as the engine revs stayed above 1200 rpm. Below that it went straight into limp mode. I was told the only cure was a new pump at €1600 plus labour.
A heavy dose of Dipetane and a half an hour Italian tune up and all was well and still is over a year later.
Ultra low sulphur diesel, I believe, is the problem. A bit of extra lube in the fuel can't hurt.

200:1 is about 0.5l per tank full.
The Dipetane I use is the same ratio. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

I think additive makes a difference and I use BP. I also think induction cleaner helps the motor. I use Revive.

I have used the following products. I don’t think they are the same or do the same thing.

Tesco is my nearest garage, I've used both diesel and Petrol from there for over 40 years without any problem. I did try some additive in my diesel RR (previous to this one) put it in religiously (even bought a measuring thingy) I'm not sure it made any difference. But all the arguments are of the "is there life after death" type - no one really knows. Geoff

I'm not entering the debate, the only "fact" I know is what I posted me, SWMBO, son and daughter use Tesco fuel all the time and haven't had any problems - the kids aren't old enough to have been using it 40 years (43 to be precise, today is my wedding anniversay) I taught SWMBO to drive back in the day so she doesn't have 40 years with her own car either. The stuff I used in the Diesel was BG422 or is it BG244 or BG 224 or BG 442 who knows, who cares. Geoff

congrats to you and your wife on your wedding anniversary geoff.. Wink

i also dont want to enter this debate, but, i to have been using supermarket fuel from as early as the mid seventies..i have had no engine problems at all..
i beleive supermarkets supply about half of the UK's consumption so you'd think if their fuel was inferior and caused engine problems then someone would have noticed by now..
