Hi all,

Noticed yesterday that the outside edge of the rear tyres, on both sides, have worn quite badly. All 4 tyres were new about 4 months ago, good quality, and the fronts are still like new. All tyres are always correctly inflated and checked at least weekly.

First thought was that the rear bushes were probably done, but a quick call with a local indy (not specialist, but trusted) suggested that since both rears had worn in the same pattern at the same speed, then it's unlikely to be the bushes.

Is that a fair assessment, or should this still be the first port of call? What else could be causing the issue?

Find a good 4 wheel alignment specialist (with Hunter equipment) and get it checked and adjusted.

Get a proper 4 wheel alignment done. It might be way out. Use a place that can put car into tight tolerance mode. If they don't know what that is then don’t use them. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Get it jacked up with the wheel off to check the suspension bushes.
The check costs nothing & should quickly identify if bushes have worn .
How many miles has the car done & how many of those with you ? Paul,

Um, it is quite likely that both sets of rear suspension bushes (possibly including the toe arm) are shot and thus causing the wear (just as likely as the wheel alignment being out by the same amount on both sides) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Joe, you hit upon why I asked the question, I couldn't see why it would be less likely than anything else that was effecting both sides. Bushes seemed most likely to me, but it's booked in on Friday to get it on the ramp and have a look, will check the bushes and get it aligned, hopefully one of the two will sort it.

In answer to other questions, just ticked over 100k, about 10k miles in my ownership

Just a quick update to complete the thread, been into the mechanics today and both lower hub bushes/rose joints are knackered, and one control arm has seen better days. Booked in to do the lot and a 4 wheel alignment, £550.
