2008 TDV8 60k miles - should I delete EGRs?

Hi, I've had my 2008 Vogue TDV8 for a couple of years and not had to do much to it apart from regular servicing and a couple of bushes and a whining idler pulley.

I've been reading about EGR and seen lots of threads on deleting or replacing them and was hoping for some advice on whether I should do this preventatively and if yes now or is it too early? Also is it better to delete or replace them?

The car does a few thousand miles a year and quite a lot of that is city driving.

Thanks for any advice

Do it. Use Bell Auto Services or one of their network. It will need an ECU patch as well as the blanking plates. Leave the pipes in place to keep MOT man happy.
I wish I could do my 4.4 but having a DPF it can't be done. Yet. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Thanks DrRob.

Any suggestions for anywhere close to London that could do the job?

A Trap

Why not fit a delete kit yourself? It’s easy and less than a hour with basic tools. Just buy a kit on eBay. No need to reprogram the ecu as no codes will show if you want to save money.

If you have a GAP iIB you can buy the patch and load yourself and do a tune if you so wish at the same time.

And yes you should do this or replace the original egrs before 80k miles when they seam to start failing and possibly destroy your turbos and engine.

Your choice on budget and fix and if you want to get your hands dirty.

Thanks ur20v,

Will have a good look through the step by step I saw posted - I had thought it was quite a big job and also thought the ECU had to be done but if that’s not the case I should really put all those tools I keep buying to use!

Anyone bought this EGR kit? http://www.egr-delete.co.uk/product/range-...-3-6-tdv8/

Seems decent quality if they’re offering lifetime warranty.

Thanks again for the advice

WB, that is the kit I, and most others have used. It is well made.
I do recommend mapping out the egr's too. While active they can still break up, stick and cause codes and aggro. Also, the turbo's wont be getting the flow rates that Ecu thinks they are.
Whille you are at it, get the engine mapped too. You wont regret it. Mine is so quiet and pulls like a train.
£300 should cover the job which is half the cost of just buying new egr's. Then its about 6-7 hours labour to fit them.
So, £300 for a worry free fatty, or over £700 to keep the "green" brigade happy and crap fed back into your engine.
I believe the Yanks call it a " no brainer" 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Thanks for the advice.

I'll have a look into the remap too - any recommendations for anyone who can do it in or near London?

I know several guys with several different maps and they all work well. I used Quantum tuning and they have agents all over the UK.
Good map and reasonable price. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

When was your remap Grofus? I've been looking again for a while but struggling to break £400 in most places, including Quantum. At that price I'll probably still get round to it, it just shifts it down the list a little

+1 for quantum, i had/ have the blue map on both my 4.4 tdv8 and 3.6 tdv8. 3.6 is a quick job through the OBD port. Big difference in performance Thumbs Up speak to an agent as deals csn be done re the list price as agents are independent to a point. 2015 4.4 AB
