Remove passenger side dash end piece to refit.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove the passenger side dash end piece on a 2009 TDV8? The previous owner has obviously had something done and it's not sitting flush - annoys me every time I look at it Sad

It's the bit with the air vent in etc.

Thanks in advance. Land Rover Addict

from what I can see in the manual:

1. remove side panel
2. remove register (vent)
3. undo three screws (should be two either side and below the duct and one on the left)

When I had this off on my '02, I seem to remember it was more complicated than this, with a tricky screw that went up from underneath.... .

After some thought, the issue I had was with the lower part, not the part with the vent in it

Might help to remove the door rubber in that area for some wiggle room... .

Thanks - I'll give it a go this weekend. I'm still on cloud 9 after having my new tyres fitted and all the issues I thought might be drive-line/turbo/manifold warping going away Very Happy Land Rover Addict

If you look into the vent you will see 4 spring clips - two on each side - they are the retaining clips for the vent. They need to be levered gently to allow the vent to be released. They have holes in them which lets you use something like fine screwdrivers to lever them. A bit of a fiddle to use 4 at the same time. Crying or Very sad

Once the vent is out, take the end panel off. As Joe has said, pull the door rubber of in that area which makes it easier for removal of the end panel, the one covered by the door when it is shut. You then have access to the screws holding the end piece which had the vent in it for removal. HTH John

If you want a visual ‘how to’, before attempting the task there’s a really clear YouTude video by powerful_uk that explains what you need to do. The secret is removing those vent clips first - easy once you know how!

Being a later car, you won’t have the cup holder in the end panel, but the vent is the same. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDv8

I would seriously suggest buying a trim tool kit and not use metal screwdriver as in that video!
I bought one off eBay. Best thing I did for that kind of work Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Well .... not being dexterous enough to hold four screwdrivers and also pull the vent out (the 2009 design in not the same as the BMW pre-2006MY version) - I reverted to that age old method of brute force. Grabbed the side of the trim and moved it towards where is should be, a bit of gentle force and clunk - it's back in position Very Happy

Still took me 20+ minutes - but I was buoyed on by the fact that my MSV Accreditation had arrived in the post, just in time for Brands Hatch this weekend!! Land Rover Addict
