United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover HSE TDV8 Java Black
L 113 auto box shift gremlin

Morning all. Working on the theory that nothing is new under the sun ( especially with regard to Range Rover faults) I’m putting this before the full fat collective Borg in the hope that someone can give me a steer.
My 07 has started to do the following.
From cold for the first five minutes the box will ( in drive) change through up to 6 th , provided you give the throttle an ease off to get into 5 th and 6 th.
after the box warms though it will only auto change up to third.
Slip it int manual at this point though and the box functions normally up to sixt, and on slowing down cycles down through the box normally.
Any one any ideas on what’s going on?
Yours hopefully C.B.

I have no idea what a L 113 auto box is, but early 6HP26 transmissions suffered from wear in the rear stator bush (when ZF decided to go 'lead-free' for a while) which causes the E-clutch to leak once the fluid gets warm. The E-clutch is used in 4th, 5th & 6th gears : https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post348432.html#348432

My apologies , not au fait with the nomalculture of the box.( was justreferring to the body model with the v8 )
Would that still allow it to change normally in the manual mode ( which it does fine?)

Dunno where L113 is coming from. Ff models are P38, L322 then L405 . That covers the last 20 years anyway. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Hard to say. The transmission can run higher pressures in CommandShift mode than in ‘D’, which may be masking the issue. Possibly worth getting the codes read to see if clutch slip is being detected (or maybe a solenoid fault).
