Hi Gareth,

Do you know the VIN number? if so create an account (free) on Topix -- you'll then be able to enter the VIN and find all the things fitted (and not fitted) to the car.

thanks for your help chaps. I can already see i'll be spending a lot of time on this forum!

so i managed to log in.

i'm guessing it list every extra and any the car does not have are listed as LESS

here are the ones mine came back with

LESS ENGINE BLOCK HEATER
LESS INCONTROL APPS
LESS INTERIOR BADGE
LESS KIT-TIRE REPAIR SERVICE
LESS LOADSPACE STOWAGE RAILS
LESS REAR COOL BOX
LESS SMOKERS PACK
LESS SPECIAL VALUE PACKAGES

can anyone enlighten me as to what the following are
LESS ENGINE BLOCK HEATER
LESS INCONTROL APPS

and can i assume it has all the other extras offered for the car.

thanks for your help

Yes Sir, and No Sir -- Sad

Less means you don't have it -- so engine block heater will also be known as Fuel Burning Heater (FBH) which can be time controlled or remote controlled -- lots of threads on here about what that is and does.

IncontrollApp is the funky things you can do with a Mobile app I believe. Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Mine has :-

Fuel Operated Heater
No Park Heating
LESS Engine Block Heater

So the Fuel Operated Heater is on a 7 day timer and can be programmed to heat the cabin. The control is from the main screen, but I had to turn mine on using an IID tool as it was disabled when I purchased the car. Works great now....although don't need it this time of year Smile SDV8 AB MY 2019

it certainly is confusing as one of the fobs has the extra remote for the heater but the dealer selling the car said he did not know how it works. I guess i'll play around with it when i get the car (although not exactly the weather to be testing the remote heater!)

I have the same MY AB and from what I understand the FBH can be used in hot weather to cool the car as well. It doesn't operate the air con but draws in cooler air from outside the vehicle. One thing I've noticed is the remote has a very long range and several times wandering around home with keys in my pocket it's switched itself on through unintentional button contact.
It's a fantastic device during winter, but I can't see a massive benefit in summer so I've taken the remote off my fob until next winter as it does draw a fair amount of current and then the annoying 'battery low please start car' message appears.

Engine block heaters are for extremely cold environments & wouldn't be fitted to any UK car.

They are electric & plug in when the car is parked, much like electric cars. In said cold environments, all parking spaces have plug in facilities.

I first saw them many years ago in northern Finland - inside the arctic circle

If yours is a AB then it will have remote heating (fbh)/ ventilation as standard. The remote simply switches it on or off for 20 mins or so depending on your car battery charge level and if the BMS is in a good mood that day. Smile The HEVAC ecu decides if the car should be cooled or heated based on ambient air temp. If approx <15’C then it heats (major browny points from wifey in winter! Laughing ). If 15’c or above it ventilates the car (note it is not air conditioning!)

As Alistair said. Dont fret about the block heater. That is for mega cold places that laugh at us when the country comes to a stand still coz half a centimeter of snow has fallen on london. Laughing

So the L405 does come with a fbh?? I’ve got what looks like a Fbh under the bonnet but no mention on the spec. But it does say it has a ptc heater. The latter surely replaces the need for a fbh no?
