United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Buckingham Blue
Hello, new member

Hello,

Thought I'd say hello as a new member; I'm currently driving a very early Porsche 996 but with a baby on the way, something larger is needed. Many moons ago, my dad and I put an old Rover V8 in his S3 109", so it'll be nice to get back under a Land Rover again!

You'll no doubt see more from me once the Porsche goes and I find a suitable L322 - I'm still undecided whether to go for a 4.2, or a TDV8.. I'll have to drive both, and see Smile

Welcome aboard, Brian. I went from an 996 Anniversary Edition to a Sport TDV8 and never missed the Porsche for a minute. the 4.2 didn't do it for me and my current RR 4.4TDV8 certainly tops them both.

Mind you looking at prices of the 40th AE perhaps I should have kept it anyway Rolling with laughter Current: FF Westminster money pit

Good to know!

I guess part of my worry is the anti-diesel brigade; I currently live in London, although I'm moving out to North Herts in a month or so. I wouldn't use the RR for travelling to work, so it becomes a weekend/evening motor, really.

Prices on 996s have softened in the last few years (like everything has) - but I think they'll stay stable, early cars are definitely looked upon as more analogue than the later 911s (like 997s and 991s)

Very Happy

Some say the R53 drinks as much as a 4.2 Supercharged, though! They're greedy little things... Great fun though.

We got 22mpg out of our R53 and 14mpg out of the 4.2 Rolling with laughter

Really do wish we'd have kept the MINI. Much more fun to tinker with than the R56. Prices of the GP aren't too bad Whistle Current: FF Westminster money pit

Me too! Mrs S had an R56 JCW Mini and now has the current gen, which I use for buzzing about, the fatty gets used at weekends, with Southeast Trains doing the commute grind. Neither of the minis is what you might call economical, and the R56 drank oil.

So, tested a couple of 3.6 TDV8s today (one 78k, one 130k) and I liked them a lot - so I'm thinking a diesel *might* be the one; although I need to try a 4.2 to be sure..

Having never driven an L322 before, I was surprised how wieldy it felt, yes it's massive compared to a Porsche 996, but it felt very enjoyable to drive. Looking forward to getting one!

So I managed to get myself into gear and got myself a TDV8 Vogue SE in Buckingham Blue.

The pic isn't great, but it's a start, more to follow later.

I adore it, already. So different to a Porsche 996!
