Digital display 3.6 TDV8

As I only drive daily for a mile or so each way to the station daily I don't get much time to see if it has any quirks till I took her on a run last weekend when about 30 mins in the digitial display flashed up "Temperature shutdown" or words to that effect then completely off, it did restart but did this a couple of times during the trip.

I have recently changed the battery and it certainly didn't do it before as I've had a few long trips under my belt albeit in warmer weather but I cant see that that has much relevance.

So I'm hoping one of you can shed some light.

Cheers

Mark

There is a fan behind the digital dash that is supposed to keep the display cool.

If the fan fails or is blocked, then you will get the temperature shutdown message.

Cheers I take it I'll need to dismantle the dash to get at it Laughing

Yes, but it's a lot of work to get to the fan so best make sure that it's failed first!

Hi Mike

Is there a way of verifying the fans operation without dismantling the dash?

Read the W.M.
The fan is not near the cluster.
It is located near the steering column and air is forced into the inst cluster through a ducting.

It may be easier to get at ??
Also I think their is a filter that could be clogged.

Thanks Mike

That certainly helps, though I'm suspecting it has more to do with the battery change that I have just carried out as it is currently shutting down pretty much as soon as I start her up and while it's not freezing outside here currently the ambient temp is low. I need to mod the battery terminal connections as the new battery was a bit bigger than the one fitted, so once
I've done that I'll clear any fault codes and see where it goes from there.

I have to say the new battery though expensive is bloody good the old one needed charging once a week as I was only doing a couple of miles a day

I hope it keeps working for you, I've killed two Yuasa batteries. Got a replacement the first time, got a refund the second time. I'd never go there again. In my experience, they don't like being charged with my trusty ctek 9000.

Well fingers crossed can't fault it so far, and it has a 4 year warantee which will probably be about when I will look to upgrade the beast.
