Not sure about the V8 badge, but definitely individual taste.

I thought long and hard before putting the badges on. But I love the historic significance of them; new old stock from the very early 70’s, the thick end of 50 years old, virtually hand made from chrome plated brass from (arguably) the spiritual road going predecessors of the RR Classic - The P5B (especially) and P6B Rovers. They were almost certainly made by https://fattorini.co.uk/ (well worth looking at their site). Fattorini were also a customer of my dad’s in the last 1950’s, so there’s definitely a story there Very Happy

Halfords tack they aren’t! Wink Laughing

Can’t be 100% sure but weren’t the badges featured on both the P6 and the MGBGT? There may have been others of course as the “Rover V8” was widely deployed, including of course in the RR Classic. 2016 SDV8 AB

Yes, on the P6B and the MGBV8 though, oddly enough, they only built about 2,500 of those.

On the P6B:

United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Aintree Green

To paraphrase a recent book title, “my Dad had one of those”, that is a P6. His was a very late model 3500S, registered about 2 weeks before the SD1 hit the road officially in 1976. It sported those V8 badges on the boot lid and radio grille. As a teenage scally, I once prised the badge off a crashed P6 whilst it was waiting for recovery. Its probably still in a tin in my mum’s garage!

Dad went on to have two 3500 SD1s before getting his first classic RR; that was a dealer special edition, in sahara dust (dark beige....) with brown between the side creases down the flank, and on the small panel on the wing between the bonnet and doors, a transfer version of that badge.

Looks smart on your car Merle and I’m tempted to copy! Mine’s Aintree Green too....

I’d be flattered if you did Very Happy and it sounds like you might only need to find one Laughing Let me know if you’d like a lead on where to possibly find one or two more NOS Thumbs Up

Funnily enough, dad had one of the very first SD1’s in ‘76. They were almost impossible to get hold of and it was a real crowd puller where ever it stopped; everyone wanted a look. Very sadly, the build quality was pretty dire though.

I find it interesting how the approach to boot badges has changed over time.

I was always quite amused to see one of the early XKs (can’t remember which generation but 50s-ish) sporting “Disc Brakes” on the boot - presumably to warn any tailgaters of rapid deceleration.

Then through the 60s and 70s I recall “Automatic” being a thing to advertise (in the UK anyway where this was still very much a minority sport).

Finally, I still find it amusing that drivers of the AB flavour of FFRR are discreet about the number of cylinders under the bonnet, compared to the showy-offy Vogue and SE drivers!! Laughing 2016 SDV8 AB
