A coincidence at the valeter’s place this morning

He’d just finished mine, when this one turned up...

Always interesting to see two side by side - especially in what’s now a super rare colour (reserved only for royalty?)

Is it my eyesight or are the front grilles different?

I did work out, in my game of “spot the difference”, that one has front fogs but the other doesn’t. 2016 SDV8 AB

It’s extremely rare to come across another Aintree Green one, even if it is a favourite with Prince Philip and Queenie. It’s such a shame that it’s discontinued Big Cry

Mine’s the nearest. They are both SDV8’s, but the differences are:

1. Both have 20” wheels, his are standard RR ones, mine are from a current RRS.
2. Roof rails.
3. Side steps.
4. Front fogs (VSE vs AB).
5. His interior is ebony.
6. The front grille on mine is from an SV AB (hence the difference that you noticed).
7. Mud flaps.
8. I’ve sprayed the grey panel at the back of the bonnet green!

That’s it, I think...

And (slightly childishly!), new old stock Rover V8 badges that are 40-45 years old! Rolling Eyes

Thank you both Thumbs Up

I can’t take any credit for that gloss. The Valeter did a really nice job clay baring and machine polishing it two weeks ago Cool

Lovely colour agreed
Not sure about the V8 badge, but definitely individual taste.

Must be the camera angle, but yours looks much smaller, Red Merle - I almost thought it was a Spurt and that you had been masquerading all this time Smile .

I thought long and hard before putting the badges on. But I love the historic significance of them; new old stock from the very early 70’s, the thick end of 50 years old, virtually hand made from chrome plated brass from (arguably) the spiritual road going predecessors of the RR Classic - The P5B (especially) and P6B Rovers. They were almost certainly made by https://fattorini.co.uk/ (well worth looking at their site). Fattorini were also a customer of my dad’s in the last 1950’s, so there’s definitely a story there Very Happy

Halfords tack they aren’t! Wink Laughing
