Did upper and lower front arms + ball joints on mine a couple months back ( on the drive ) all parts from maltings 4 x 4
not to dad a job but some times you could do with three hands only advice make sure you have 4' or 5' bar for levering the arms or get a mate to give you a hand. The only thing I've poly bushed is the anti roll bars I think they are to harsh for the road and will spoil the ride . as for the after market bushes time will tell .Its a heavy beast so the front suspension must take some serious hammer. Range rover 4.2 SC 06MY.

Is it safe to assume these are knackered?

Most definitely and your front tyres will be getting scrubbed out too.

+1 also, where do you get your bushes from?

Unfortunately the weather messed up my plans for getting them done this weekend. Will report back as soon as they are done.

Here is the E-bay link to where I got them from.

Does anyone have a used pair of the TCAs that they want to sell? I could fit my Powerflex bushes to them and then just swap the arms over. Would save the car being off the road for so long and as there are no ball joints on the arms, nothing else to wear.

They look easy to fit, am I right in thinking no press needed ?

. Cheers, Greg

Yes, dead easy to fit, the bush is split with a stainless sleeve that goes through both parts. It will be getting the old ones out that will be the main issue, hence my request for some used arms. Annoyingly, I didn't keep my old ones from a few years back.

I saw /read somebody 'collapsed' the old one out.

Went a bit like this:

The steel outer bush lips out so get a chisel on it, and bang the ring inwards to create an inwards kink.
Then hopefully loosening it enough to slip it out.

The more I think about it, the more I think I'll do mine this way with those split bushes.

No need for a press if all goes well...?

. Cheers, Greg

Go for nr 3! just did this on my L322. Complete kit for both side was cheap (order from UK), and it's an easy job for your local mechanic. Smile

Strangely that was my first thought, one side is new after doing my offside air suspension bag, the otherside isnt. I drove round for a while with one link missing and there was no knocking, when I fitted the link the knocking was very pronounced. Other symptoms, if I go round a corner left or right theres no knocking (I assume if it was the drop links thats because it's under tension.
I may just try a pair of drop links and see if it cures it, I was sure when I saw that bush, that was my problem, they also replace a ball joint because one was bad. BMW i3 Electric Car
