Hi all.

Just read in a post on this forum that a member was advised not to "keep raising and lowering the suspension" as this could result in "premature wear and failure".

Was wondering if that meant one should refrain from engaging access height mode on a regular basis?

Equally, I have been advised to engage access height mode when parking for a period of time (eg. overnight or longer) as this will help prevent failure.



Any thoughts?

access height is used when coming to a standstill so that driver/passengers can disembark comfortably, if this feature wasn't supposed to be used every time then land rover would have made a comment about not using it to much...

putting the range into access mode overnight would help those little airbags have a rest and therefore prolong their use..some members dont touch the access mode and they havnt had any problems... ... - .- -.

The pump often runs during a normal drive cycle, so wear on the pump is not an issue here.

The suspension bags move a LOT under normal use, ie speed bumps, pot holes etc. So raising and lowering really wont cause a problem.

Consecutive access to off road adjustments can cause the compressor to overheat, but when it cools down all will be fine.

As per the manual, one should only select access mode whilst moving - ie not whilst stationary.

I believe that if the car is in access mode, it won't do its periodic level check every 6 hours or whatever it is. So if you're leaving it parked up, leave it in access mode.


Every time I change a wheel/tyre I spray the bags liberally with silicone spray as this should stop them cracking

You cant spray inside them?

I spray all over the outside of the bag when in off road height so most of the rubber is exposed. I also spray the cone so it works its way into the folds (Edna!?)

Very helpful and in line with what I thought sounded sensible but appreciate the confirmation.

Silicone spray is a good tip. I will remember that!
