I just used a thin chisel between the bolt heads, but you could probably use a piece of 15mm wide steel. Key thing is at least 3 or 4 hands to hold the pulley "blocker" and the viscous fan tool + hammer.

In order to remove Cooling Fan the Work Shop manual for TDV8 2006-2010 says that I need Special Tools.

The Viscous coupling pulley retaining tool 303-1241 is just a device to hold the pulley stationary while you use the fan nut spanner to loosen the big 36mm nut.

I always use a "heel bar" , pointed end on the nut and a good whack with a 4lb hammer , keep the bar as vertical as you can and 3/4 the way across the nut (to the right hand side when looking down at it standing in front of the vehicle), will give you a better turning moment of torque, normally shocks them off with no problem , remember its a left hand thread ! |

Eventually, I ordered Part No. LRT146-2PC from powerfuluk.com (Retaining tool and the 36mm Spanner) and it worked like a charm. The tool is also compatible with FFRR TDV8 engine and fits on the pump. Thanks everyone. |
