How is your bonnet?

Quick question...

On my 02 4.4 the bonnet when dropped from 20cm or so locks in place if I try and push it there is very little springing back but feels right on the bonnet pull.

On my 07 the bonnet appears to sit 10mm higher than the 02 does and when dropped it locks in - you're never pulling it up but you can push down on it and it will spring up and down a fair bit. I have tried adjust the grommets to no avail..

which is correct (I assume the 02) and how do I start fixing the other?

If I drop my bonnet, it just goes "thud".

I have to manually engage the hook and then two hand press close it.

Everything is well greased though.

If:
1) it shuts
2) the gaps look ok
3) it doesn't come open
4) and absolutely crucially the alarm doesn't go off because the sensor bracket is bent (top left as you look at the engine)

then you are good.

No two FFRRs are the same... you will be happier if you forget consistency and embrace an "it's working!" philosophy !!

The "thud" is like a pickaxe hitting concrete on a dead straight down stroke. THUD

After the hit, I then have to manually move the 'bit' to slot down the latch hole.

And press closed the bonnet.

NATURALLY I now avoid this issue. Rolling Eyes

mine shuts perfectly when dropped from about 20 cm. if its not latching when dropped then it may be that the rubber stops want winding down slightly.

you shouldn't have to move the bit into the hole. Shocked There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
