I’ve had my TDV8 for 7 months now and I’ve just noticed the steering wheel doesn’t retract when switching off. I think the reason I hadn’t noticed was because I’d disabled this on the TD6 a few years ago and I’d got so used to it not doing it.

It will operate up/down/in/out on the lever but that’s it.

Its settable in the dash menu, i think its easy entry/exit

Hi Andy, what position is your steering wheel set to? On mine I have the steering wheel set as high as it can go so there is no more movement available for the entry\exit option. If I lower it then the wheel will move as it should. Might be worth also unticking the option in the menu, switch off ignition, give it a few seconds then switch back on and retick the option. Sounds an odd thing to do but it’s computer controlled and like all computers they sometimes forget what settings have been selected

I’ve always had it to the highest position.

I’ve just adjusted it to a lower position and tried it again. The steering wheel does go back up to the high point but doesn’t retract in. I can’t see any movement in the seat either. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Are they supposed to retract?? Mine just raises to the highest position which I thought was normal.

Could be a Motor fault on the Steering Column. Had to change one on my last L322 due to the Ignition Key not turning. Got a Second Hand one but when i fitted it the Up and down wouldn't work so took the Motor off the Old one and swapped it out.
All good after that

if it al works manually on the lever then the key isnt telling the ecu to do its bit ..

have you tried the spare key to see if that one does the job.. ... - .- -.

I really must 'STOP' reading sensible advice on forums!

I tried the spare key in order to leave it in the car for use on the garage lifts.

Big mistake.

I get into the car as normal. (heck it is my car thus everything is where it should be).

and I instinctively apply the seat belt.

Put unused by me 'spare ignition key' in.

Now the we have the complete FF-Anti-Villain mode.

With the seat belt fastened and the previously unused spare key in, the seat starts to move forward and down, the steering wheel is coming towards me and also heading down.

The lap belt part is getting tighter and tighter, and still the steering wheel is moving inexorably towards me.

Breathing could become an issue, the shoulder strap part is now also trying to strangle me.

Finally all movement stops and I'm almost 'immobilized' but my right arm still seems to be sending signals to my hand.

I manage to stretch down and with a last effort hit the "#1 seat memory button".

The computer kicks in and the seat starts to move away, the steering wheel moves inwards and upwards, blood starts to recirculate in my 'nether regions', breathing is now a possibility, and "Normality has been Restored"

The morale is, do not use the spare key unless you are sure that a 7 year old did not program it to the car!
