how to replace button of central media-display?

Unfortunately the switch on/switch off power button (year 2011) is getting worse:

Probably because of being used very very often the fine „latching/clicking/snapping“ of the button (that you feel when you turn the button) is almost gone - or weaker than years before.

I was told from the LR-Dealer I can’t just replace the single button but only the full unit (for a ridiculous price)

So, my idea is to buy a used panel and to re-use the button in my car
Is it possible to replace it without removal of the full display?
If it should be necessary to remove the display-unit: do I have therefore to remove/uninstall the complete dashboard???[/img]

Their is a member who has bought a secondhand unit and stripped it to remove the sat nav hard disk.
Maybe he can send you some helpful info?
I will find the thread and add a link to this reply if that whippersnapper Stan doesn’t beat me to it. Thumbs Up
Mike.

Rolling with laughter Sorry Stan, at least you qualify as young, mind you most people seem young to me these days.
I didn’t look it up but thought it meant “ full of energy “ “ quick off the mark “ .
I have just returned from walking 5 miles of the beautiful coastal path here in Portugal and feel anything other than whippersnapper . Rolling with laughter

I’m interested to know how come the button gets used so much? Do you turn it on and off every-time you use the car? Regards
