United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Atacama Sand

thanks greg. I’ve cleaned all the plenum hoses on outside before run and no debris has reoccurred. Shouldn’t it throw up a fault code tho on going into restricted performance?

Why is there a N/A on the differential pressure sensor live value? Does that mean it’s not working? Or is it not fitted! Not sure why no attempted regen otherwise?

Tried to do service reset on IID tool and the values showed the same - 0 time to service etc.

Am a bit baffled to gibe honest Embarassed

I'd have those hoses off and look very closely of cracks. Sometimes they crack underneath or underneath the clips. So just because there's no dust/debris doesn't mean you don't have an air leak.

Did you establish if you have the old or new type?

. Cheers, Greg

UPDATE Sunday 27 Oct -Problem solved??

So, just been for another test run having checked the plenum pipes are fitting ok, the rear DPF sensor connects properly, changed the oil and filter and re-set the service indicator. Prior to the oil change and reset, the oil dilution factor was 12 (I read somewhere a reading of 7 is tip-over point!) this now read zero again.

These were the values on set off (trip is 5 miles on lanes, 10 miles on motorway to next junction, then back: total 30 miles).

after only 4 miles on the motorway the regen initiated and soot dropped from 21.2 to 11.9 in 4 minutes.

Then on the return journey it didn't regen at all and soot went up to 12.1, then 12.2 with an oil dilution reading appearing for the first time (0.0122)

Soot rises to 12.4 and oil dilution goes up to 0.0244.

This is the end of the test run. Soot is 12.5 a rise of 0.6 in only 15 miles.

SO it appears the oil dilution WAS inhibiting a regen but I still didn't get it down as far as I would have liked. Comments?

My first thoughts....
1) How far did you drive at a steady 40+ mph once the temp hit 600c ? It can take quite a few miles to get the soot level down into single figures.

2) I really like the idea of being able to monitor the oil dilution level....
I am seriously considering trying to update my iid, but I have no idea how to do it.

I think you will have to monitor the soot level until it gets to c19g then take it for a longer motorway trip , preferably on cruise control to keep a steady speed whilst the regen is in progress.

How long had the oil been in to get to a dilution figure of 12 ?

It would be really helpful if you could tell us the figure regularly, with mileage since oil and filter change.

The car was given a major service exactly 1yr ago and less than 8.000 miles travelled.

It was driven at 65 for around 15 mins on the motorway and stopped regenning after 10 mins having dropped from 22g to 11 .9. It then rose on the return trip.

Wow,
Lots of cars must be running around with contaminated oil with the owners thinking that they are OK with annual oil changes
If the contamination is linear, it suggests that 5k miles must be near the 6-7 figure.??

I have noticed that it doesn’t take much throttle movement to stop a regen mid cycle, but I tend to try and set my C C to about 55mph and hope for a complete burn before I need to slow down.

That’s interesting about the speed variation. I wouldn’t have thought it would make any difference as long as you were over the min speed.

Will try it on CC next time and see if it regent for longer Thumbs Up

What model phone do you use to take easy screenshots?
I use an iPad mini, but screenshots are a two handed job, so am interested in copying your one handed phone.

It’s a 2018 iPhone XR. It’s just a finger and thumb squeeze on the buttons either side. Think I sent you photo of my rig up on the dash already ?
