Hi everyone! I have searched for this but to no avail... the black trim on my 04, between the top of the metal bit of the upper tailgate and the bottom of the glass, is off centre; I have had the car for a year, and its really annoying me now!!! does it just pull off with brute force, or does it need to be levered with a thin tool underneath? I dont really know where to start with this trim piece, and I am scared of bending it if it starts to pop off!!

I've tried pushing mine along back to the middle, but it doesnt want to go.

Tempted to just break out the Dremmel and cut the protruding side off!

Think its wedged under the glass so best left alone.

Interestingly on later models they stopped fitting it, mine doesn't have it but my TD6 did, then they started fitting it again. Go figure. Discovery 4 HSE

The newer cars still don't have it. They stopped using it during 08MY. Now they just have a very thin plastic, just to give it a better looking finish.

What you can do, is give it a few wacks with one of those plastic hammers so that it goes back to the center. But it will inevitably go back to being off center. On my car that piece is already leaning into the C pillar...

I tapped mine with a rubber mallet - went right back. It moved out, so it has to move back...

this trim can be removed. just lever out one end and pull. i removed mine to paint the tailgate then pushed it back in. i put some washing up liquid on it to help it slide back under.

Easy done, I removed mine as soon as i got the car. Tapped mine sideways using a piece of wood to keep the hammer away from the glass. Lots of wd40 or simmilar. Probably could be tapped downward but I was concerned of the glass. Dont replace it, its much better without 2007 TDV8 VSE

Done. It took a bit of persuading but once it started to move, it moved relatively easily. When there was about 200mm protruding, I was able to grip it by hand and pull it out.

I'm not sure that I like the big gap, though. Ron B. VK2OTC
