Would taking the air filter box out help you to get easier access?.
It is a fairly easy job and frees up a big space.
(I have only removed the passenger side one, but I think the drivers is similar.

Yes thanks Mike - removing the air filter box was the only realistic way I could get to it as I couldnt get my hands in low enough to get to the bottom hose.

Its not so much access that's the problem more knowing which way to shift that bottom plastic hose connector.

Cheers

John

John,
I think your right, the hose I posted doesnt look the same as yours, but the fitting has the same clip to hold it on.

Looking on the pictures of the water bottle I have seen, the stub on the bottle simply has a 'barb' on it that the metal clip gets caught behind. There is no thread or anything. It is probably just stuck in place with the O ring.
Give it a wiggle and a tug Wink

I would hope the dealers can supply this clip. There are lots of them for VW/Audi on the net but I can't see any listed for LR though. Too many toys, not enough time

OK thanks John, I'll just give it a bit more of a tug when I try again.

I did visit LR dealer earlier today and they were no help unable to supply the clip or the hose fitting itself "..but we can do the whole hose if Sir would like that" Rolling with laughter

I have found a few of the clips themselves online and have ordered a couple that measure up to being the right size so will post an update later in the week when they've arrived.

Best

John.

counter intuituvely you push the clip inwards and the fitting should release. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I replaced my expansion tank (oil cooler gasket was leaking and had oily film on the inside of the expansion tank) requiring removal of that lower hose fitting, I also lost the same spring clip but luckily found it hiding in the subframe.

The hose fitting was a tight fit but some firm wiggling eventually freed it, it does just pull off in the obvious direction.

Hope that helps.

OK thanks again.

I'm assuming as per the earlier post I'll need to replace the missing spring clip in order to release the fitting so will give it a go once they've arrived tomorrow.

Thanks all.

John.

Ps if the clip is completely removed opposed moved into the ‘remove’ position, the fitting should just pull off.

All sorted this morning with the advice above put into action.

Only lost a few drops of coolant when I freed the pipe from the expansion tank and new one now up and running etc.

Many thanks everyone!

John.

Hi TDV8John,

Can you advise if the spring clip you ordered was the right one? And if so where from?
