So, this happened a couple of hours ago..... 
Owned the car for just two years and in that time, done the best part of a third of it's total mileage (bought at 42k miles two years ago).
Has it ever let me down? No!
Two 'major' items have reared their heads in the past two years - usual leaky oil cooler and the age related failure of a front strut air bag. Both issues have been rectified at home in the driveway for less than a total of £1000 between then.
Aside from general servicing, the car has cost me less to maintain than it has to road-tax.
Straight swap for a newer model - not a feckin chance in hell......   The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
