Front End on bumpstops most mornings

Hello, first time poster, long time reader. I have a 2007 L322 HSE, new to me. It has developed the condition of the front end sinking to the bump stops most mornings. Not always, but most. Rear end does not drop. I have checked for leaks and can not find any anywhere, I have replaced the front air control valve thinking that it might have been leaking internally, but no change. It has a new battery. I am ready to replace the front air struts to rule that out, but thought I might see if anyone had ran into this and I might be overlooking something simple. I do have the iidtool and have put in build mode and it has still leaked down. Thanks for any suggestions.

Does/will your car achieve full off road height?

Go to off-road height then spray soapy water around the base of both air-springs which will probably reveal a multitude of pin-holes, possibly on both. Consider replacing the whole strut rather than just the air-spring, maybe both even of only 1 is leaking as the other wont be far behind.

I have tried that, but certainly will try it again. It seems like it takes it over 8 hours to start leaking down. I will plan on replacing both air struts. I do park on a slight incline at home. Would the self leveling be causing any of this or height sensors ? The height has been calibrated and seems to go right back to that. I just wanted to see if anyone else had ran across this to see if there was something else I might be overlooking.

when the engines off, doesn't the ecu check height sensors every 2 hours or so and deflates air bags to compensate?

since you're parked on an incline maybe this is relevant, perhaps faulty height sensors etc?

can't currently find any other posts about this so happy to be told I've dreamt this up Laughing

Mine does the same if left for 2 or 3 days. My TD6 did too. In fact I seem to remember the back went down too after a week or so.

Fine as soon as I started the engine up.

Never worried about it as it was fine normally. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

dexion7 - I had wondered the same thing. I might start with new height sensors.

V8 Bob - I did try parking the other way and it still went down in the front, so I agree with you not the ecu compensating

mjdronfield - I had first noticed mine after 2 or 3 days of not driving also and yes my back did eventually go down after a week or so. But mine did not go up after I started the engine, stayed down until I inflated with the gap tool.

I am wanting to put a bigger tire on and am afraid if this is normal, it would eventually damage my fenders by going down. I am wanting to achieve a set height all the time if possible.

Thank you all for your input.

If the 20A main suspension fuse is removed overnight then the system cannot lower unless air is escaping from somewhere. I expect that in the morning one front corner would be lower than the other indicating a leak in the lower side.

Are the top nuts tight? If not then they can leak.

I removed the 20 amp fuse and parked on level ground last night. The front end was on the bumpstops again this morning. So I am convinced it is a leak. I would think if one of the front air bags is leaking it would only go down on that side. Is that not correct ? Or does the system leak out both through one or the other front air bags, if one had a leak ?

I had checked the cross link valve and seen no visible leaks, but went ahead and replaced it last week in case of internal leak, but still goes down in the front overnight.

Both air-springs are likely to be leaking. The holes generally start as pin-holes then get bigger and more occur. However make sure that both top nuts are properly tight, for which you will need an Allen key or Allen key socket to hold the shaft and a ring spanner for the nut.

GraemeS - on the top nuts, are you talking about the 3 at the top of the strut that are visible under the hood ?
