Spain 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Baltic Blue
Which suspension have I got?

Replaced the rear pads on the car today and noticed the passenger side rear shock was coated in oil, so will need replacing.

When looking at rear shocks some as listed as ‘Continuous Variable Damping’ vs normal ones - not sure what to go for.

What is the standard set up for a late 2012 TDV8? Are Bilstein‘s factory-fit?

You have Continuous Variable Damping, for the rear shock - they are known to "sweat" a bit but are OK. so if oil is not dripping You are ok 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

I fitted Bilsteins - cheaper than LR but no adverse effects.

The ‘wet’ one in question is Bilstein.

If anything I’d like a softer ride, has always felt quiet firm. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

The hard ride may be more down to the (lack of) sidewall in the tyre?

I've read reports that moving to a 19 inch wheel and tyre setup can improve the ride.

Or next time you fit new tyres consider 255 55 20.
The ride difference is very noticeable softer compared to 255 50 20.

These are the original style, don.t recall the number but it's on here somewhere. I believe there are others that will fit. Again on here. Cheers

D4 19" fit - I've had a set on mine and most likely will go back to 19" when the current 275/55R20 need replacing as I find them too big and nothing much here in 255/55R20.

Yes, but only on that one style of wheel I believe.

Other 19's will foul the calipers.
