ok, i am contemplating moving away from L322 to a Discovery 5. i need more boot space and ability to carry more people.

i like my tdv8 and cant see the tdv6 being that great tbh so was thikning more the V6 petrol. 330bhp, 450Nm.

Has anyone made this change or changed the other way, specifically from a 3.0 V6 petrol discovery?reservation is the lower grunt for towing/motorway runs.

i know D5 looks horrible but its very practical (and yes boring), would welcome views/opinions.

I am not keen on an SDV6, pretty fed up with DPFs and its seems a great deal of the SDV6s have fuel/oil issues. Cheers

It’s a pity about not liking the SDV6, it’s a better engine than the TDV6, but it’s the only option in a D4 which, if you’re looking for practical 7 seater car, puts the D5 firmly in the MINI Countryman class!

I have an l322 and the wife a d3 boot space is much better in the d3 but rear passenger comfort is less you trade 1 for the other. That being said were gonna use the d3 for a trip shortly because we need space for the dog and essentials were also fitting the top box.

I’ve been a big believer in Thule roof boxes, over several generations of car, from MINI to 405 and they work brilliantly with the D4, just don’t ever fit one to an L405! You can only use the OEM roof rails (which are made of cheese) and the surprisingly curved sides of the car make fitting, filling, emptying and removal a pain in the bum.

That’s pretty much how mine looked on the top of the L405. The problem is the width of the car, the thickness of the doors (11”!) and the barrel sidedness of the flanks, which make loading the box so difficult. I use a trailer now 👍

More boot space and the ability to carry more people ( in comfort ) Land Cruiser Amazon. Really miss mine. Great bang for your buck.

Believe me I know, I own a Toyota.
It's a reliable second car that my wife uses.
It never ever goes wrong.
That's the best thing you can say about it.
The badge is the biggest problem.
There's no cache, no credibility.
Only a disappointed look on the face of the one who's asked.

Now you could say I'm being badge-ist.
But in the UK badge cred is a real thing.
You could equally ask yourself if you want to answer that same question with "Ford" ???
Or a bunch of other 'meh' brands for that matter.

I've got to say a Range Rover has some street cred, when you get over the Chelsea Taxi/Premiership Footballer jokes and the mock astonishment at the fuel consumption, I put it all down to Jealousy. Funny enough although the wife has a new Mazda and will not drive the RR, always says we have a Range Rover. Geoff

And Range Rovers have so much badge cred that whatever one you own, at any value between 2k to 100k, still oozes style.

In this way it's proper cool because it's actually (and oddly) - classless.

It's cool for what it is and not much much it costs.

And it's catapulted Land Rover (if not driven the SUV trend) to expand the range, and sell rather a lot of metal the world over.

Ford are bringing out new electric cars.
I read they will be calling them Mustangs.
A whole range of Mustangs - a sub-brand.
They are building off the badge and associations that the original established.
