Thermostat install gone wrong

2008 Range Rover HSE....so i watched the vid &fbclid=IwAR0MCdBjMxYrg6R-McNNdycOWoMxHzuaabbE1PejSC4m4SDDNdiQ17ni2qA
and i took it all apart. Went to put the new thermostat in and the guy said to make sure the pin moves back and forth in the new thermostat so I pulled on it and it came out. I pushed it back in and I guess it didn't seat fully back in and when I went to line up the pin and put the new thermostat into the housing the pin came out and fell into the housing/hose. Who knows where it is now or how far down the hose it went. Having a oh sh**** moment here. Am I screwed? I'm not sure where that hose leads to...it goes downward...but its too dark to really tell if it goes to the rad

Wondering what the probability of me getting/finding that pin. Can the the car be driven with that piece somewhere in the system if I buy and put in a new thermostat or will that piece in the system cause catastrophic failure 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

Can you securely tie a small magnet to some string and drop it down the hose?

I have a magnet stick but it wouldn’t go past the “tube” in the housing that the pin inserts into...not enough room. I also checked and the pin on the stock thermostat isn’t steel so the magnet wouldn’t work.

I’m not sure if that side of the hose/thermostat dumps right into the Rad and my chances of getting it out or consequences of it in there. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC
