Thank you chaps, yes it was a fantastic trip... The car was 100% the star of the show though... Didn't miss a beat in nigh on 2000 miles! I had the Radar Cruise Unavailable message come up once but think that was more a dirty car than any form of fault... The winter tyres make slightly more noise on certain road surfaces but i guess that's to be expected! i was astonished to see they were still in the same great condition returning home, especially as the car was pushed quite hard at times (a sustained 90-110mph) in Germany Whistle Thumbs Up

Again, thank you to all who gave advice and pointers... Very much appreciated...

Oh, and why didn't anyone think to tell me about the Swiss Vignette? Whistle Banging Head Ner Ner Laughing

Ah yes, the vignette....... I buy mine at the Swiss travel centre in London, much to the consternation of the frontier guards at Vallorbe who flag down every UK registered car and look crestfallen when having stopped me see that I have one!

Ah yes, we were the UK traveller on their radar when we crossed the border... My daughter warned me about it en route as one of the drivers in the chalet asked her to check if we had one! £2000 fine if your caught on the motorways without one apparently! Shocked

Ohhh Jesus, how could I forget to tell you about this little sticker! I' was so focused about warning you of the speed traps, I did not even spend a thought on the "Vignette".
Driving without a Vignette on motorway actually cost you CHF 200 = £157.
Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed your trip and made it back home in one piece.

Continental cross contact winters David... I have to say, astonishing performance on both fresh snow and compacted ice Bow down

The buses is Davos were all running Winter Tyres and i was astonished at the speed the busses were driving on 1" of compacted ice up and down the main street!

Its my first experience in an area like this and was surprised at the lack of collisions... Whistle

I love my Conti Winters Thumbs Up

Agree on the busses though - I once got a minibus from the airport in heavy snow & would swear his average speed up the mountain roads was higher than I could / would have done it in the RR Bow down

Most people are converts to winter tyres when they try them, including me.

I've not tried those tyres, but I've heard they're very good. Maybe I should ween myself of vreds, but they're so hard wearing you can use them all year round. My summer tyres are horrible 275's the car came with and they destroy the ride, so I don't like to use them. Also, when I last ordered vreds they delivered 5 instead of four, so when these wear out I'll likely order 3 more.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the trip. I enjoyed seeing the photo's. Shame on you for not putting some ski's on though. I guess you're got further to fall than me! Laughing
