Dead Range Rover

Has anybody encountered the Parking aid control module issue? Frightening that everything is dead, hard reset doesn’t work and all because of damp in the parking module case. I cannot see wher water has got in, everything else is fine. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

The parking aid control module located in the rear is prone to water ingress, From where I don’t know but if water gets in to this little black box the vehicle is dead. Nothing, rein, nowt, Censored all, Trying to start it all you get is smart key not found.. I found a fantastic little video that showed the issue and made my day because I would never have found the problem. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

There a quite a few threads on the water ingress in the near side rear cubby. It appears to affect several of the units in that space and there is a tech bulletin about a major prevention mod. Would you believe, a piece of plastic covering the units.

If you want to search, here's a starter for you:

Might help with other electronics in there. Cheers

Yes I’ve seen the bulletin but no sign of damp anywhere else. The inside of the module is horrible, look. Once disconnected everything works fine, whilst connected everything is dead.

If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

You could always give it a good scrub with a toothbrush and some contact cleaner, might just get it back working (it did for my Sat Nav DVD unit - which looked just as bad) - although those capacitors don't look happy. You have nothing to lose by trying it. .

I have got a new one for£80. Not worth damaging the wife’s tooth brush. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!
