A Trap

Thanks.

My post really was more about questioning the cars system of operation rather than how to manually test batteries.

Thanks again.

I think you need to crack out the multimeter and check your battery voltages.... just saying.

Agree totally, I relied on the dash info, fitted a new primary battery, message still appearing, fitted a new aux battery, message still appearing. Both batteries I replaced are in good order. The most annoying thing is the car seems to cut out non essential functions such as FBH on the basis it believes the Battery(s) are low, which in my case they weren't. On my 2013 AB the main battery is over 800 CCA and the aux battery is over 700 CCA. That's a lot of juice for one vehicle. I should also add that the original battery on my L322 which I bought new lasted 12 years and as far as I'm aware didn't have this unnecessary feature. It's fairly obvious when you need a new battery.

Craig. Charger charges battery to around 90-95% (itakes quite a while to get there) then switches to trickle charge mode.

Around 24-36 hours later of the car not being moved, I will get the low battery warning when I get in the car. Clearly a number of systems are waking up plus I have deployable side steps and the BMS isn’t happy at the state of the battery.

To be honest over all the Landrover’s I’ve had, 3 Years is about average life span I have had for an AGM battery. They don’t last as long as good old traditional ones.

I do have an IID tool but does that show me separately voltages of the two batteries just a combined overall reading? Or just the main battery?

I’m sure I read somewhere once (doesn’t means it’s true of course) that manually charging a battery can throw the BMS. Ie somehow if the voltage it sees don’t tally with what it’s “memory” thought you last had (i.e from when the cars alternator last generated its own charge over time), then it has a wobbly.

Fleagle I've just replaced the original battery in my 2015 RR AB. I ordered a new genuine one from Midland Car Spares via "The Bay" at a very competitive price. Wink It arrived in two days and has solved all the same issues you are experiencing. Thumbs Up

`I was so pleased I ordered another for SWMBO's D4 as her car was starting to suffer the same low battery warning and wouldn't seem to hold a charge. Original battery and again a two day delivery, problem solved and even the stop start has started working again and thats been "foobarred" for 3 years! And there's me thinking I might save some money being stuck at home:lol:
