DPF full 4.4 TDV8 2012

Hi guys
A bit of advice please just been to the local town for essentials (beer, wine, and steaks)
On the way back it starts smoking badly, and then DPF full warning comes up, drove it like I stole it the 6 miles home, no smoke anymore, but still have the warning up, says in the manual 20 minute drive at50 mph, cannot really do that In the current circumstances....
Any suggestions?

Do a search on here but intake leaks is where you should start before driving it again. Check the 4 doughnut hoses under the engine cover first, check intercooler hoses, check intake manifold for leaks. Ideally a smoke test machine is needed to help find it. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

it can take up to 20 mins drive...basically you need to run it until its hot enough to burn off the soot ....surely there must be a pharmacy 20 mins away.. Wink ... - .- -.

20 min blast up an autoroute of your choice. Thumbs Up depends how strict the local gendarmerie are though I suppose. If they are likely to take you behind the small Peugeot van and give you a good flogging then maybe not..... Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Any idea why it was smoking so much before the warning came on?
I wasn’t accelerating very hard at the time.

I appreciate that mikey
But what do you think the smoke was about, if they start a regeneration, do they smoke a lot?
No chance of Getting to a motorway, what if I drive in lower gear for 1/2hour
Bloody nightmare, as all garages here are shutdown due to the virus, so if warning light goes red I’m screwed

This sounds a bit similar to what I have experienced with my own 2011 4.4 TDV8. I had some air intake leaks that were fixed by my local Indy, however just before lockdown the sudden plume of smoke came back and my DPF threw the amber followed by red warnings. I managed to clear the red and carried out a regent but haven’t been able to go any further due to the current restrictions. I’m hoping that once these are lifted I can carry out some more testing so will be interested to hear if you find anything in the meantime. You can read my latest issue in the link below.

Hi again
Well, as I cannot go anywhere at the moment, I thought that it would be a good time to order 4 new hoses, as everyone seems to think that this could be the problem causing the DPF full warning.
So...what are they actually called, and is it a simple job to do, do you have to remove the plastic plenum?
Where’s the best place to order them from?

I cleared by putting in sport mode and drive at 55mph for 20min on a duel carriage way, sport holding the gear down to it revs more generating more heat.

Just an update
Car has been to my local garage since last Tuesday, changed the 4 short hoses on the plenum.
Cleaned everything.
My guy to it for a long run Sunday, but cannot get DPF to regenerate, don’t know where we go from here.

1. Do you have an IID tool or OBC reader? Your soot reading should be less than 28g as above that it cannot be force regenned by a dealer. It will have to be cleaned.

2. What is your "fuel in oil" value? The engine puts extra diesel into the system in order to raise the temps in the DPF in order to force a regen. If regen does not occur, then the extra fuel is unburnt and gets into and dilutes the oil system and I believe this can hinder further regens (catch-22). The upper limit is 7.

I had a reading of 12!! so changed my oil to get the reading back to zero and managed to get rid of the RED DPF warning on my own with IID.

3. Check the voltage on the Rear DPF sensor. I can't remember the correct Voltage reading (someone on here will remind me hopefully) but it should be less than c. 0.8V (please confirm somebody?)

4. Check EGR valve working correctly.

5. How much fuel in tank? Regens only occur if there is at least 1/2 tank left (I think - not sure on exact level)
