For the L322 it made some sense to mount it to the car roof as you shut the tailgate hard & the camera might fall off.

On the L405 with soft closing, I'd me more inclined to stick it onto the rear screen - but I haven't looked at how you'd do that......

Thanks for ideas but L405 is completely different
The tailgate is moulded from some sort of Resin
Then painted so the only access is the lower panel to the boot lock etc.
Also when closed there is a hump at the top which fits against factory head lining.
You would need to drill quite a large Visible hole
This is a lease car so its a none starter
Has to go at the base of the rear window I feel

Due to way it is made the only way you can pull the cable through it to remove the rear spoiler which you can then drill a hole that cannot be seen and fish it through.

I had one fitted to my L322 and when I came to sell it and removed it it pulled the privacy film off with it so I vowed to install this one differently, I’ll add a photo over the weekend I bought an L shape bracket from B&Q and stuck it on the internal C pillar and I personably think it looks a good install and still give good vis ability.

Like so. I though it was a good place as the parcel shelf does not lift up all the way like an L322 so will not hit it.

I had mine professionally fitted. They initially fitted it to the top of the rear window. I hated it as I could see the camera and cable in my rear view mirror. They relocated it to the bottom of the window and I now can’t see it.

I am sure they managed to run the cable through the left hand boot strut (as looking from the back of the car) and then down into the plastic panel in the bottom of the boot lid, then up though the plastic to the bottom of the window by making a discrete cut in the plastic. It did take longer to fit doing it this way. Hopefully the photos make more sense. The blurred arc line across the top of the photo showing a car behind me is the heating element. When playing a recording back you can’t see the arc. The black line in the bottom right corner is the power cable to the camera.

Hi Stan

I usually only play music though my iPhone. I will check it out tomorrow and let you know.

You’re right Stan there was.

Several Blackvue dealers admit the shielding on the cabling is not great and I’ve had certainly DAB problems since the (professional) installation.

I’ve got a van with a stick on windscreen aerial that gets a lot better DAB performance in the same location.

I’ve tried ferrite collars to no effect.

In my case it’s just a trade off - dash cam v DAB.
