You posted the wrong link - the ST68's seem to score very highly on everything -

https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Accelera/Iota-ST68.htm

Compared to the Conti's I run -

https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Contine...act-LX.htm

Very high snow & Ice scores, but for whatever reason, they haven't rated the winter version against this measures.....

https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Contine...Winter.htm

They are also showing the winter as having better dry grip than the summer - only margially better, but I don't believe that one either.....

Each to their own - fill your boots with Acceleras then Smile

No, not the wrong link - I posted a different link to yours - different tyre, different results.

Personally, I think you are in a very small minority here Alistair & you will argue your case until the cows come home.

You can troll out as many links as you like but I (& many others on here) when looking at FFRR's for sale would question the way a car has been actually looked after if it had budget tyres or non-matching ones fitted.

To me (if I were into fine wines) fitting budget tyres to any performance car would be akin to serving wine at a dinner party in polystyrene cups - you can still drink the wine but you won't get the best taste.

FWIW I don't like Conti's either.

I'm out - feel free to have the last word whilst I chuckle in the background. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

The link I posted was for the tyre that OP originally asked about - I hadn't realised you'd introduced a new tyre into the argument.

I'm genuinely confused here as to which side of the argument you're on Brian...... are you recommending Acceleras or not ?

FWIW - I am all for premium tyres - I've never fitted cheap ones & would walk away from any car that didn't have matching premium tyres as IMHO it shows corners will be cut everywhere else.

I run summer & winter contis - I care enough about tyres that I have 2 full sets of 5 wheels & tyres.

I personally don’t think that you can beat the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season M+S as a good all rounder on a Full Fat.

I did say that I had finished with this but need to make it quite clear that I would avoid Acceleras like the plague & absolutely would not have a set as a gift.
Certainly, I would not recommend anything that I would not buy &/or use myself.

As far as I'm concerned lets leave it at that eh ? 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Thanks for confirming Brian - sounds like we are in complete agreement with each other after all Laughing

MarkinCW5 - are you actually running Acelleras ? There's more to life than handling - straight line stopping is also very different between different tyres.....

Thanks - I've only really ever heard bad stuff about them, but the test review actually looks quite good - I guess I'm just biassed.....

I'm pretty much an even split - summer in Bordeaux, winter in Andorra, spring & autumn UK

I usually get anything I can to do with the RR done when I'm in the UK as it's just easier Thumbs Up

My 5.0SC came with these tyres on my 22". They are just about passable, and it is summer now, so didn't feel the need to rip them off as they were brand new. But come September I'll rip them off to never be seen again. Definitely requires some careful driving unless you like drifting...

No doubt about it. But that isn’t an equal comparison. Sure I’d rather have a “bad” new tyre than a “worn” good tyre. Surely that goes without saying.

But between the “bad” new tyre and the “good” new tyre I would prefer the “good” new tyre.

As I said, I actually do have these bad tyres on them. They are just about ok for during the summer period and as they were brand new I tolerate them. But the moment the road conditions change so will I change the tyres. And then I still got six months out of them and won’t find it so wasteful. I’d rather had bought the car with worn tyres and put some decent tyres on it myself.

It is a balancing act though as the Petrol version will run out of fuel before the end of the test Big Cry Laughing
