England 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black
Fitting a voltmeter into the dash

Hi, I intend to fit a voltmeter into the dash so I can keep an eye readily on the state of charge etc.. I've identified an area I may be able to cut out a 50mm circular hole to accommodate one... But I need to remove the panel beneath the steering wheel, the one marked airbag to see if there is enough behind clearance, does it pull off or held with fasteners? Is there danger of detonating the knee airbag etc? Thankyou. Thumbs Up 2008 L322 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 in Java Black with parchment and Navy interior. 125000mls.

I used to be indecisive and have a split personality... but we are ok now...I think?

I have one of these it's a USB fast charger and has the charging voltage displayed just plugs into the cig lighter.
No fuss no damage or

You could get one of these and just mount it on the centre console and connect to the cig lighter

You could get a usb voltmeter and leave it plugged into the cubby hole or for £15 or so you can get an obd head up display and then have speed, temp and voltage options on you windscreen. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

That's pretty much what I have in mine BUT mine also let's me play music from my phone via fm tithe car stereo, hence I dont feel the need to rip out the standard infotainment system.

Hi, thanks for all the options offered, I don't have a usb port so the only option would be to have a cigar socket one but the only socket up front is, in the ashtray which I'd have to leave ajar with the thing sticking out, just doesn't seems elegant or tidy.. Mine mounted in a 2004 TD6.
Connected to a permanent live with a piggyback connector into the front fuse board. Allows me to see the voltage on the car just by looking through the side windows.

Looks good, I have couple of questions:

Did you use a fuse that is permanently live or an ignition switched one? If always on does the current draw hurt the battery over time?

^^. Used a fuse that is permanently on, never had a problem with battery drain caused by it. Been on the car for about eight years to date. Thumbs Up
