Rear Diff options

Hi all,

I was doing the DIff service and the oil from the rear diff came out looking like mud, I can feel alot of sand like debris in the diff still, I'm guessing it's toast.

I have the non ETM Diff are there any aftermarket options? do I have the same Diff as the LR3?

Thanks

Have you checked the diff for backlash and worn bearings, I've had diffs full of mud before and it's usually just the bearings that suffer, the backlash and wear of the gears wasn't an issue... Doubt there are aftermarket ones, not a big enough seller... Not sure on compatibility between Land Rover species..! Good luck Pete

I'm surprised that the diff isn't an e-diff as I thought all 4.2 SC were fitted with e-diffs.

The diff isn't the same as an LR3,

thanks for the info, I was really hoping that the only difference between the RR and LR3 diff's was just the output flange.

I'll be removing the diff and taking to a local shop to have it checked.
