Odd non starting issue

2011 tdv8 4.4 - been at Keith Gotts for a week having ££££ spent on it.

Driving home, car driving great. Stopped at a shop after an hour drive, jumped back in, pressed the start button and all the usual lights came on but didn’t crank. Went through lock, unlock, tried with and without the brake pressed. All the dials show.

Had been doing this for about 10 minutes - battery low warning, please start engine - cheers for that !

Luckily an RAC man was next to me and connected a jump pack - nothing again. Connected to his van, 1st go, nothing, second go, starts.

It did the exact same thing a few weeks ago when cold and fired up after a few minutes without issue or jumping.

Was going to try a new battery as it’s had a starter - anything else odd it could be? Tried the searches and found mostly battery suggestions. Halfords an ok bet for an emergency?

How long ago was the starter replaced? Sounds like battery or a premature starter failure. Might be worth cleaning up terminals and checking voltage. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Halfords if you're pushed into a corner, but any decent [or indecent] motor factor locally would be my first port of call. Great fan of Bosch, if someone offers you a 'Nappa' don't worry too much, that's a Platinum battery rebranded that's all. I've had Platinum leisure batteries before & they're perfectly good enough, it's simply 'Nappa' [USA] bought out Platinum & slowly buying every 'name' in consumable motor items. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

I don't wish to wee on anyone's strawberries, but the gold old English name of 'Lucas' died a long while ago.
Sadly, Lucas is now just a branded name, made more than likely from China, yep, comes in a lovely green box with Lucas all over it, but unfortunately, it's 'just a name' nowadays.
Don't get me wrong, the item maybe fine, but anyone thinking "I've got a Lucas part" is under a misinterpretation of the origins.
If & when my starter goes on the blink, I'd rather have it refurbed by my local auto-electrician, then you know exactly what's been done.

Wiki
After LucasVarity was sold to TRW the Lucas brand name was licensed for its brand equity to Elta Lighting for aftermarket auto parts in the United Kingdom. The Lucas trademark is currently owned by ZF Friedrichshafen, which retained the Elta arrangement. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Thanks, I will get and check but it never cuts out when driving - only when starting hot or cold.

Will clean the terminals. Notice the battery is definitely not the right one - only 750 cca so will replace it. Mine doesn’t stop/start so should it still be an agm? Seen various people link to a varta G14 (850 CCA) 95ah at £180. 500 on ECP!

Currently has an Avon 720CCA 95AH (353 × 175 × 190mm) fitted which is definitely the wrong one. Question is which is the right one for the car?

Every website suggests a slightly different one, and each has an AGM option

So based on the above, the L322 never had a start/stop but needs an AGM battery?
