Spare wheel question.

I’ve just taken the spare wheel out of the wheel well and the polystyrene under it to get in the full sized wheel.

Is there anything which goes underneath a full sized spare wheel something to space it off the battery cable maybe. To my eye the batt cable seems to be squished between the wheel and the floor...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Mine looks like this -

The cable to the Anderson connector (& the crumbs) are mine.

I think there might be a piece of carpet missing - it kind of looks like there should be something over the battery

Alistair, That’s what mine looks like when I e taken the poly out 👍🏻

I’ve had a google and there are 2 part numbers for a polystyrene insulator. The first Is for the bottom of the wheel well lr033233 when there is a space saver fitted, which is the one I’ve got. It’s like a big doughnut. There is also LR033234 (also big doughnut) but thinner for a full sized wheel.. This should go in the bottom of the wheel well under the wheel and tyre. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

For completeness......

The thinner packer arrived and even with that the 275/45/21 doesn’t fit. I suspect a smaller “full size” wheel and tyre might.....

So it looks like Alistairs boot is about right.👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Careful it might change colour as you wash the paint of once a year is more than enough

@Sandy - I do normally wash it seasonally - so it's not been spoiled too much during lockdown Laughing

@NMJ - I nearly ordered one, thanks for posting back, glad I didn't Very Happy - not sure which wheels it's for then as mine came with 255/20's - I fitted the 22's

quick question about spare wheel size. i am running 255/55/20 and dont have a spare wheel.
do i have to buy same size/type wheel or can i buy the space saver spare wheel.
i have seen few in 195/70/20 size.

or basically is there a spacesaver spare wheel available for 255/55/20 ?

please advise

I guess no reason why it can’t be a space saver..... but why ?

I’ve really never seen the point in a car that was designed to accommodate a full sized spare. I get it if there isn’t the space, hence the need to save some..... But that’s not the case.

I’ve only ever had a few punctures, yet they always seem to occur a long way from home, on a Sunday, with a long journey left. So I like a proper spare in the FFRR.

there is no preference for spacesaver, i would personally prefer a full size spare.
just wanted to know if there is a spacesaver size available too, just to see if i have 2 options.

otherwise will stick to my search for a full size spare.
thanks

As long as your rolling radius is the same on the axle you'll be OK. the two sizers in your post are close enough to be OK (<1% difference by my quick calcs)

Oh and the tyre used is speed / load rated etc. etc..... Bish.
