Engine system fault

Just had the above message pop up and now power, switched off and started up again and seems ok but when I rev it up I get black ish smoke, iid tool has the following message

P023D-22 (6Cool Manifold absolute pressure - turbocharger/supercharger boost sensor A correlation - General signal failure - signal amplitude>maximum
Looks like turbocharger or inter cooler pipes?rang green flag to recover it home has I want to risk driving it,funny thing is voltage is only 13v when running.the egr valves were replaced about 2 years ago.its done 112000 miles and has been reliable in the 5 yrs I've owned it. Seems odd about the low voltage . 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

I don't think it's the voltage and it's a bit low but depends how much stuff you have on.

Best guess would be upper hoses on top of the engine (easy to remove and check) or cracked inlet manifold probably right hand side.

I'd start with the hoses first Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

In fact checked back and this is the code and exact symptoms I had with the cracked manifold. Diagnosed mine with some soapy water on it to see it bubble. Hopefully it's just the top hoses for you though Thumbs Up Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

I thought the hoses but I have changed them but it was about 4yrs ago .a quick visual check and they look fine,my voltage has always been 14.5 volts or there abouts, but concerned about the smoke really. 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

Cracked manifold would be cheaper than new turbos though. Every cloud lol Very Happy 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

It will be cheaper than turbos and is fairly common. Get some soapy water in a spray bottle take the top cover off and spray it on the plastic manifold with the engine on and maybe so done gently raving and look for bubbles. Start with the right hand one (drivers side) first I'd say.

New manifold is about £350 then fitting if you don't do it yourself. I was quoted 8 hours labour to do it so did it myself. Fiddly is an understatement with the hidden bolts and injector leakoff pipe clips Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

Thanks for that kbald I'll have a look tomorrow and see what's what. Might have to use my local indy landranger services for the manifold or turbos.its been relatively trouble free for the past 5 yrs so can't complain too much. 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

Make sure you check the hoses thoroughly, the right one as you look at the engine cracks under the webbing and you can’t see it until removed. 4 years depending on mileage would be about right for them to fail again, I only got 3 years but did do a lot of towing.

Pulled the top intercooler pipes off and found a 1inch split in the pipe with the webbing on it,ordered 2 new ones which will be here in the morning.

Just a quick update about my new turbo hoses, they have been fitted a week now so i pulled them off to see what they were like inside after a weeks running, the left hand one looking from the front does have a film of oil on the inside of the hose,is this normal do you think?while the right hand one is dry(the right hand one is the hose that had the split)my egr valves were replaced 20000 miles ago and they are working fine so i was thinking of doing the egr blank and the thought behind this is it should help avoid turbo problems in the future. Anyone agree or not? 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver
