Different Motor - Ofcourse
Different Gearbox - Nope - They all used the same Zf 5 Speed gearbox between 2002-2005.
Different Electronics - Only ECU & Wiring harness. Rest all I understand is the same.
Lastly, sell mine and buy a diesel - Would have already done that. But this one is my first and has been special so would like to do all it takes to bring her back to life Smile

Are you sure that the diff gearing is the same? I'm sure that i've seen something about differences between diesel/petrol final drive ratios?

There are loads of bits different, but figured engine and gearbox were enough to allow a good idea/bad idea decision. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I’d look for a cheap TD6 donar car to make sure you have everything you need, and also act as a reference point for you.

Get a junkyard M62, do the timing guides, PCV, cam cover gaskets, fit and enjoy. Or just get a TDV8.

buy yourself a cheap tdv8, and sell the v8 non runner. the only thing you can change over, in reality, is the FFRR sticker in the rear window. TDV8's are real value these days, as diesel is falling out of favour. and they have some power, and economy.. find one with a couple of appearance issues, and work on that. changing engines, looms, programming ecu's, security, becm, is a nightmare. -spannering in a lump, might be the easy bit. coding it to run, is a minefield.
the old BMW engines are not bad engines. they just go brittle,, with the long term heat, (that they were built to run under) and thus, nylon internal parts break up. did the other engines have chain issues, or overheat-melted?
