I have no skin in this game having gone for the cheaper option (I only wanted Waze) but while googling I found this https://unique-ad.co.uk my son had one fitted in his Audi (he did get someone to install)
I think Craig got one and as far as I can remember he liked it.

On the surface it looks to provide the same functionality as the NavPlus units but at a lower cost. Does anyone know how the installs differ? Is there any reason to avoid this unit? Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

What about the Mode button???

These units take over the in built screen and send audio over the line input / aux input. A long press f a button allows you to flip between systems.

This appears to work well from the discussions and videos I see.

However, I assume the Mode button still functions? So when on the CarPlay screen and a clumsy button press catches the mode button does the audio source change? I suspect so, and then it’s a bit of a faff to get it back to the correct input?
Either switch to the old screen / system, and tap the screen… or learn the number of Mode presses to cycle through the options (probably several times as we will no doubt get it wrong first)

Just curious… Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

It looks like one of the only differences is that this is for single view screens only, not dual view. Other than that, it looks pretty similar.

I haven’t tried the mode button, but agree it probably will still change the source as expected. I’ll test when I go out in the morning.

My son had his deinstalled (if that a word) because the top few pixels went off the top of the screen as fitted. He subsequently read of the fix on the internet but it was too late then. He really is a chip off the old block. Thumbs Up Geoff

I forgot to report back the other day… I tested and, as expected, the mode button still works whilst displaying CarPlay. I don’t think this is an issue though, you’d have to be pretty ham-fisted to press it by accident I reckon.

Cheers for the update Full-Fat-Lance.
I wouldn’t consider myself ham fisted, but have only clumsily clipped it a couple of times. It’s normally cycled through quickly, and only makes the family jump when you get to the radio… as it’s loud static (im fed up of retuning after tweaking with my IIDToo) Laughing

As I said before, I’m just curious. I’m still getting either this or the naviplus unit at some point. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Seeking some help with my Naviplus install, if anyone could advise?

The system is installed, it all went pretty well and today I fired it up to see if it worked and it does, but, I have an issue or two:

1) The 'Range Rover' page no longer appears. I get a grey fuzzy screen until I use the 'hang up' button to change mode, and then the Naviplus system comes on.

2) Pressing and holding the 'hang up' button does nothing, the system attempts to make a change, makes a clicking sound behind the dashboard but ultimately shows the same screen again. I cannot get the original LR screen to come up at all.

I can't play any music from Carplay, although it looks like it is on-screen. The car is playing a CD from the autochanger that I can't stop...so it's like the car is stuck running its original system that I cant access.

Google Maps, WhatsApp and Spotify all appear normal. I've tried the dummy aux cable in and out, just in case it made a difference - it has not.

So the question is...what have I done wrong?! Did I need to plug in both the original ribbons? Not just the smaller one, 'A' denoted with a red star in the instructions? One original ribbon is not connected.

I have the dual-screen system, with pins 2,3,4 in the dow position - no other pins are down.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

All original ribbons should be connected. Sounds like it will sort your issue. My guess is that you’re getting the CarPlay output as that bit is connected, but without the original connected it isn’t picking up the input to be able to pass it through.

Widest ribbon: the original goes into the new piggy-back connector on the cable that has taken its place

The one next to it has no modifications and returns to it’s original place.

The small one, again the original plugs into the new cable which took its place.

I’ve finally got around to fitting my Naviplus after putting it off for nearly a year. It’s not been anywhere near as bad as I thought but now everything is in it won’t boot past the Range Rover start screen. Dual screen 2010. If anyone has any ideas you could make me a very happy person!

Hi, Guys I have had the naviplus fitted by an in-car entertainment company very respected know what they are doing, They had the fitting instructions no problems.
I was asked to sit in the car to show me how it worked, the screen was there and working ok.
So the unit was working on the tech's android phone. I was asked to pair my iPhone, and that's when things went pear shape it would not pair? tried many many times
no joy.
The tech went to settings, then reset to factory settings to start again with no joy, and because I supplied the unit it was my problem I should contact Naviplus?
I have tried to pair my iPhone, with my wife`s iPhone, and it shows that it's paired on the screen
Playing songs giving directions for Waze but the screens are mixed with no sound and the touch screen function is not responding?
What is confusing me is it was working fine when the tech's phone was paired.
yes, it does have the dummy AUX plugged in.
