I may have a go myself but not sure what I will need.

As per my other threads (and thanks for all the help and support BTW).

The audio system saga continues, so now I have got a replacement speaker grille. box ticked
I need to find out just whay those two pesky rear of seat speakers wont work, I have booked in to an audio man for next week but I'm still feeling that it could just be a poor connection or an unplugged cable to the amp. so the question i have is - what tools would i need to carefully remove the passenger seat and whatever else to get to the amplifier underneath. i know it has to be done with TLC but I would ensure I am csreful and if I hit a trouble i would abandon but it seems worth a try.
Do regular places like halfords sell tools for such a task - it cant be rocket science - which is good because I am not a rocket scientist, (or car mechanic - ask me about buildings and I am Ok though Smile ).

i would move the seat forward or back and see if you can stick your hand around and feel for loose connections..

Tried that, with a head torch on and just couldnt get in there, its that little gap and the amp sits below.
frustrating though.

If you undo the 4 bolts that hold the seat in place you should be able to tip the seat back towards the rear seats and get a good look underneath. Undo the front bolts first then move the seat forward and then undo the rear bolts. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

That’s an external Torx, or etorx

Getting to the amp is a bit tricky. One you remove the seat, you will find that you will need to move the carpet. To do that, you need to lift the tread plate. To do that, you will need to remove some trim bits that sit on top of the scuff plate. There is a decent YouTube video from powerfuluk. Be sure to disconnect you battery if you unplug you seat.

Shocked
I’m starting to wonder if I can’t just see something that I can plug in, albeit potentially with a bit of faffing around.
It may be worth having the car minus 2 working speakers. It will bug me but I just concern that I could end up with damage to the trim/seats/leather etc. And still not get to the nub of the problem?

Thinking about your speaker issue a bit more. If these are the only speakers not functioning, I don't think your issue would be the amplifier connection. The amp has 3 (or 4) large multi wire connectors for all the speakers, with that in mind, a lose connector would result in multiple speakers not working, not just the seat speakers.

Since you have the speaker grill "removed", is it possible to remove the tweeter and 2 mids from the seat to access the wires on the backs? If so, and you have access to a multimeter, you could try an experiment. Disconnect all 3 speakers, and measure the impedance between the 2 wires that were connected to the tweeter. If the impedance is somewhere between 0 and open, you have a good connection through the harness to the amp. If its 0 (short), you have a bigger issue. If the impedance is infinite (open), you have a disconnect somewhere. I've attached the seat wiring diagram, note that the mids are in series and paralleled across the tweeter. This is why I recommend disconnecting all 3 drivers. While the drivers are out, you can do a quick impedance measurement on them to be sure that they aren't blown.

I know you have probably checked numerous times already, but are you sure there isn't some hidden menu option that might be the issue? Something obtuse like sleeping child mode?

That’s a great and comprehensive reply.
In need one of you here I’m sunny ongar but looking on your profile you are in sunny Texas.

I did wonder how just two speakers out of 26 might stop working as they are connected in banks of x amount on each harness. Is that correct?
If it is, and it’s found that there is power getting to the speakers, would it be possible that one faulty speaker might stop both of them from working?

I just assumed that if one was not right then the other would still work?

Is that such a thing?
I’m going to go and look.

When you say 2 speakers aren't working, you mean the left and right seats, correct? Each seat has 3 speakers. It would be hard to imagine both seats failing in the same manner.

Yes the speaker connections to the amp are many speakers per connector.

Yes both sets of 3 don’t work so no sound from either seat at all.
