Windscreen Spec for Replacement

I have a 2011 SE Vogue 4.4 TDV8 which needs a new windscreen.

How do I find out what type of screen it is? It is heated but not sure about any other options.

Are there any part numbers I should be telling the replacement firm?

Thanks

David

Have a search on here for windscreen repacement and you'll find the points to make sure the correct one is supplied and the problems when fitting to overcome.

Rob at Duckworths should be able to give you the part number and you can make sure it has the relevant markings by looking at this photo. Bottom nearside of screen.

It shows the heated, noisereducing, reflective markings as well as Pilkington and Land Rover marks. If it's to be an insurance replacment make sure the insurer is made aware that you require a direct original replacment and the same applies to the fitting company.

HTH Cheers
Richard

A quick web search shows Benson as a Chinese? repacement so your car may well have had a non original replacment at some time in the past. Anything showing in the history if you have one.

As I said in my first post the info on the screens should indicate what is requird for an original dircect replacement. Cheers

No problems Dstew.

As Rob says there's Duckworth Rob's contact

If memory serves and I'm happy to be corrected:

A car maunfacturer will put out a tender for the required specification of a (say) windscreen. The accepted tender will then be contracted to manufacture a certain run of that part which will be stamped with the vehicle AND glass manufacturers names (OE). At the end of that run the glass maker can supply the same screen but not use the car makers logo (OEM). At that time any other manufacturer of glass is able to make a replecement which may be of the same or lesser standard (OEE).

Replacement screen price will reflect this.
Resale value of the vehicle may be affected Cheers

Rob has replied and said I need Land Rover part LR039064 but not in stock. How do I cross red that to the correct pilkington number?

Regards

David

Hi David

I'm not sure how to cross reference the LR part with Pilkington. Perhaps a web search may help. These two show available from LRParts, but I don't know about them and haven't used them. Perhaps someone else on here could let us know if they are a reliable source.

This matches your part number from Rob.

https://www.lrparts.net/lr039064-range-rov...wards.html

This is the more expensive climate screen (solar reflective is my guess)

https://www.lrparts.net/lr039063-range-rov...wards.html

I assume that, as Rob would now have your reg no/VIN he has checked the car's build sheet and supplied the number for the non climate screen. Still a fair wack for a non insurance replacement. Shocked

Perhaps have a word with a major windscreen repacemeent compnay or two and see what they fit, trying to get the screen details from them?

If there's anything else I can think of I'll let you know, but come back if you think I can help further. And do let us know how you get on.

Nosey question, is the screen replacement by you or through the insurers? Cheers
Richard

Have started the ball rolling with auto glass. Asked for LR or Pilkington. The ten year old on the phone didn't even know what a Range Rover was so they are consulting with the grown ups.

More news when I have it.

Rolling with laughter you owe me a new keyboard, this one's got tea all over it!

Folks have had autoglass, some good, a few bad, but they all seem to make sure they insist on the correct screen and get it. For me, they replaced my 7 series screen twice after their initial fiiting caused wind noise, without argument.

good luck Cheers

Sorry about the keyboard. 😃

You seem to have same model as me. A 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8. Is the picture you posted above your actual screen?

Cheers

Yep, my screen taken just before I posted it.

I think the icon in what would be the lower right area of the info refers to acoustic and reflective or climate glass. The other, left icon is the heated reference.

HTH Cheers
