Approved used with MOT advisories

Hi all, I just purchased a 2016 Vogue SE SDV8 from an LR dealer under the approved used scheme. Turns out the recent MOT conducted by them prior to selling had advisories for front discs and rear flexi pipes. What is the LR policy on selling approved used with advisories?

IIRC there’s a 165 point check - I’d be asking what they checked and what the criteria / results were

Approved used checks are utter rubbish.
Do the bare minimum to get it out the door and then either claim off the warranty when the end user finds all the issues, or stiff you for repair of the defects.

If you are within the 30 days return period and they are not willing to deal with the issues, at least you have bargaining power with this option?

Good luck and hopefully you get looked after.

I wouldn’t wipe my Censored on that 165 point check list. I bet they never ever go through it diligently.

However, if there’s a paper checklist with the pad thickness on it and an MOT advisory - then all you need to do is measure and see which one is right. If it’s not the approved checklist, then they have little defence.

How do you know the MD did not address the advisories?

Trying to get as much info as possible to get my issue resolved. I'm new to the dealer and newer car game having run older sports and discos for years. Finally managed to save for a newer FFRR.

Take it back then and make your point, pointing out date of purchase, how many miles traveled since and type of driving you’ve done since, if not already done 👍🏻

165 point checks are not always “all that”... and engaged the dealer principal/ “Head of Business” if/ when they try and fob you off...

I won't hold my breath. Most dealers will fob you off....be polite but firm. Raising one's voice in the showroom when punters are around usually works Rolling with laughter 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Seems a strange thread. Car is used, it has worn items e.g. tires, brakes, batteries, etc. All of these are not warranty items. They were advisories which says you should watch these items and be prepared to replace in future. Dealer has no responsibility to restore to as new condition. If you wanted a new car then you could pay new price...seems like a lot of anti against dealer for selling a used car at a used price....
