Possible new car purchase - oil leak ?

Hi All

Need some advise please, I’ve finally found a car that is perfect and just about to sign on the dotted line. Cool

Everything works as it should, drives superbly etc.

History of the car all checked out. Thumbs Up

Only issue I can see from looking underneath towards the back of the engine is a leak? Or moist area?

Could this be the usual o-ring and cooler gasket issue? Which is just starting ? Or

Assistance greatly appreciated

Thanks

Stephen

Mine similar staining, perhaps not quite as noticeable [car done 109k].

A couple of days ago, I drained the gearbox oil and replaced it. While it all looked very fresh, only 2.75l came out and 4.25l went back in [I know more is held in the filter and torque converter], so I expect the staining is a slight weeping of gearbox oil.

It might be worth checking gearbox oil levels - its quite a quick job [20 mins on a ramp] but the oil is expensive [make sure you get LR approved 8-speed oil] and use someone who knows how to do the job [i.e. running through the gears while filling].

I'm not proposing to do anything other than keep an eye on it. Current:

You checked the oil level while on a ramp? The vehicle needs to be level.
