L322 Spacers

Something I've done to most cars I've owned is to fit spacers to give a slightly more aggressive stance. I appreciate they aren't too everyones taste. It seems most who have fitted them to their L322 have gone with 30mm on all corners however on measuring, I think a staggered 30mm rear/20mm front would give a better fit under the arches.

The problem is I'm struggling to find anyone online that sells 20mm for these cars. Has anyone here done this and can point me in the right direction please?

Personally, on any vehicle, especially heavy ones the only direction I would point you is away from spacers. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

20mm is not practical for spacers UNLESS you change the wheel studs in the hubs for 20mm longer ones - so that the spacer is truly a spacer, trapped between the wheel & hub & maintaining good thread engagement between the wheel nut & stud.

Nearly all Land Rover "spacers" are actually adapters, where the spacer is thick enough (ie 30 mmm min) to have wheel nuts inside the "spacer" to retain it to the hub. Separate standard wheel studs fitted to the spacer then are used to fasten the whel to the spacer.
If the spacer is less than 30mm , there isn't enough depth for the retaining nuts and a reasonable supporting wall thickness.

Some people fit 5mm or so spacers without extended studs, but it's not a good idea as thread engagement is reduced to levels that no car company or engineer would / should accept. Paul,

Thanks for explaining Pawl, very helpful. I am definitely looking at hub centric spacers which is what you're describing so what you're saying does make sense though for previous cars I've fitted 20-25mm spacers. I suppose if it's not a common demand from RR owners, manufacturers wouldn't make them which may be why all I can find are 30mm.

Just can't decide whether 30mm on the front would be too much and leave the wheel protruding out from the arch.

btw, leave the fronts as they are and just soace the rears, that's if you decide to after reading those threads... ... - .- -.

They look great!

I had a search on 'spacers' - didn't see any posts about catastrophe unless it's lurking in a thread with an unrelated heading.

K did see mention of 25mm being available but alas the post didn't mention where from.

I'll continue to think on it. Hopefully if anyone has fitted, even if 30mm all around, they could post some photos and some experience of running them it would be a great help.

I am following them on FB but the PH thread is a good read so far.

I see early on in the thread that they have indeed gone with X5 wheels, which look great and set the stance off perfectly in my opinion. Unfortunately not a viable solution for me as I've just bought replacement wheels for my L322 as the ones it came with were severely corroded. I found some in the exact same style just with a slightly different finish. So my spacer question remains....

I’d never fit spacers to such a heavy vehicle. In my opinion the potential cons far outweigh the pros (slight visual improvement).

If you do decide to fit spacers, I’d heed the advice above about thread length etc. Thumbs Up
